As Deadlock continues to generate buzz, one burning question on many players’ minds is, “Does Deadlock have controller support?”
Deadlock is a team-based, multiplayer action game developed by Valve that came out of nowhere and took the gaming community by storm.
But soon after the streaming and such restrictions were lifted from the game’s early version, more and more players started to get hyped. Among them are the ones who favor using a joystick controller.
If you’re looking to play Valve’s upcoming MOBA third-person shooter on your PC with a controller but aren’t sure if it’s supported, this ONE Esports article on its controller compatibility has all the information you need.
Does Deadlock have controller support? Everything you need to know
For those unfamiliar, the game is still in the early stages of development. In fact, its official Steam listing states that it has “lots of temporary art and experimental gameplay.”
At the time of writing, the action game is in closed beta, and it doesn’t offer native controller support. However, it does have an option that players can use to play the game with a controller.
With that in mind, the game is likely to feature controller support when it releases on PC, as it is expected to be Steam Deck compatible.
For players with beta access who want to use a controller, here are the steps you need to follow:
- Open Steam.
- Head to Library, then go to Home.
- Navigate to Deadlock and perform a right-click.
- Select the “Properties” option.
- Click on the “Controller” tab.
- In the “Override for Deadlock” drop-down option, select “Enable Steam Input.”
Once you do that, you will be able to play Deadlock using any controller. However, you must keep in mind that since the game is still in early development, it doesn’t offer any key binding or customization feature.
Additionally, even with a controller on default settings, some key actions in the game may not be mapped, so you might encounter limitations during gameplay.
