The Philippines’ Youth Esports Program (YEP) has partnered up with global gaming publisher Riot Games Southeast Asia for its efforts in student-oriented events and activities.
Formed by Mineski Philippines and the Philippines Collegiate Champions League (PCCL), YEP aims to develop future esports talents through students.
With this partnership, students in YEP will gain the opportunity to join Riot’s workshops, career talks, and many more joint projects. As of now, some of YEP’s initiatives include weekly Legends of Runeterra tournaments and Valorant content contests.

“The Philippines has always been one of our most important markets and we have been consistently blown away by the passion and talent discovered within the community here,” said Chris Tran, Head of Esports for Riot Games SEA. “We are excited to partner with the Youth Esports Program and to support their efforts in nurturing the next generation of esports and game industry professionals.”
Aside from the program’s LoR tournaments, the partnership will mark the start of YEP Valorant tournaments in an upcoming cross-campus esports league.
With this solid backing from a global gaming company, YEP Director Marlon Marcelo stated that the partnership will raise the level of esports to traditional varsity sports in schools. He also hopes to create an infrastructure that helps students have a clear and safe way to pursue their passions in esports.
