Chainsaw Man chapter 185 recap
After regaining his will to live, Denji forms a clever escape plan: running laps inside the Aging Devil’s prison. But the seemingly futile plan turns out to be a stroke of genius.
The chapter opens with the Aging Devil explaining that its prison lacks any exit. More bizarrely, it reveals that humans naturally turn into trees when they “reach the culmination of thought,” which takes around 2,000 years.
The Aging Devil wants humans to discover new possibilities in eternal life, even if it means slaughtering thousands. We then see it in the cabal’s headquarters using the struggling elder as a stool, who shakily supports his master.
When asked how Denji plans to escape, he reveals that his exercise was to build an appetite. He then proceeds to chop at a nearby tree-person using an axe Asa cobbled together.
The ex-devil hunter screams at him for harming the tree, which proceeds to bleed and produce entrails that Denji shortly consumes.
Afterwards, he pulls on his chest cord to wake Pochita up in the real world, who regenerates fully due to Denji’s full stomach.
Since Denji has a literal forest he can eat, the Black Chainsaw Man can fight as long as Denji keeps stuffing his mouth. While the Aging Devil doesn’t care if it dies, it can still feel pain!
