Shroud has no plans to return to the pro scene

In a recent Overwatch stream, Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek was asked by a Twitch viewer if he would ever consider going pro in Overwatch. However, while he undoubtedly has the skills to play pro-Overwatch, Shroud made it clear that he has no plans of ever stepping back into the professional scene.

“That is always the question,” Shroud elaborated. “No, absolutely not. I could never see myself going pro again in anything. Pro in life, how about that?”

Shroud rose to prominence as a pro CS:GO player on various esports teams, including Manajuma, Complexity Gaming, and Cloud9, but retired in April 2018 to become a full-time streamer.

He now streams mostly FPS games including CS:GO, Overwatch, and Apex Legends on Twitch and currently ranks tenth in viewership.

Shroud is not the only pro-level player to choose the streaming life over competing in the Overwatch League. Brandon “Seagull” Larned played for the Dallas Fuel in Season 1 but retired at the end of the season to return to full-time streaming. Popular streamer, Calvin “Aimbotcalvin” Chau, has also stated that he was offered opportunities in the Overwatch League but turned them down as he prefers streaming.
