The 2024 Destiny 2 Solstice event has brought back the Stasis Hand Cannon, Something New. Like Crowning Duologue, Something New can drop with fresh perk combinations, making it a decent option for PvP and PvE activities.

This ONE Esports guide explains the best perk combinations for the Something New god roll in Destiny 2

If you’re running a Prismatic or Stasis build or simply looking to get your hands on a new Aggressive Frame Hand Cannon, you’re in the right place.

PERK TYPEPERK NAME & DESCRIPTION
BarrelFluted Barrel: +5 Stability, +15 Handling
MagazineFlared Magwell: +5 Stability, +15 Reload Speed
Perk 1Subsistence: Defeating targets partially reload the magazine from reserves.
Perk 2Headstone: Precision final blows spawn a Stasis crystal at the victim’s location.
MasterworkReload Speed
Origin TraitDream Work: Once per reload, assists or assisted final blows partially refill the weapon from reserves and increase reload speed for a short duration. Bows receive faster draw time.

Most Aggressive Frame Hand Cannons have awful Stability and Reload Speed, and Something New is no different in this regard. As such, for Barrel and Magazine, we recommend Fluted Barrel and Flared Magwell, respectively, to boost the weapon’s Stability, Handling, and Reload Speed.

For the third-column perk, Subsistence is perfect since it can reload the magazine from reserve and reduce the most prominent inconvenience that plagues Hand Cannons in PvE activities.

For the fourth-column perk, Headstone is a no-brainer for Stasis builds, as it can allow you to deal AOE damage, boost weapon damage, and improve ability regeneration, granted you have equipped the appropriate Aspects and Fragments.

For Masterwork, Reload Speed is the safest choice for any Hand Cannon, though, in this case, you could also go with Range or Stability, as the Origin Trait can make up for the Reload Speed boost.

PERK TYPEPERK
BarrelSmall Bore: +7 Stability, +7 Range
MagazineAccurized Rounds: +10 Range
Perk 1Snapshot Sights: Faster time to aim down sights.
Perk 2Precision Instrument: Dealing sustained damage increases precision damage.
MasterworkRange
Origin TraitDream Work: Once per reload, assists or assisted final blows partially refill the weapon from reserves and increase reload speed for a short duration. Bows receive faster draw time.

For PvP, you would want to prioritize Range over Reload Speed. As such, for Barrel and Magazine, we recommend Small Bore and Accurized Rounds, respectively.

Snapshot Sights is an easy pick for the third column perk as it can improve ADS time, which is an incredibly useful boost for any weapon when you are facing other players.

For the second column perk, we recommend Precision Instrument, as it can boost precision damage and reduce TTK.

Lastly, for Masterwork, we unsurprisingly recommend Range, as you would want to make sure your shots hit other players.

That sums up our Something New god roll in Destiny 2.
