The 3 best heroes to counter Mathilda in Mobile Legends

Mathilda shines as one of the best — if not the best — initiator supports in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Her unique blend of mobility, engagement abilities, and team buff skills allow her to fit into almost any team composition in the game.

She can quickly maneuver around the map and engage enemies using Guiding Wind. Moreover, her low-cooldown Soul Bloom ability allows her to poke targets continuously to dominate or help out a lane. But what makes her exceptional whether you play her as a midlaner or a roamer is her Circling Eagle ultimate.

Upon activation, she circles a target for a few seconds and gains control immunity. She then deals magic damage and crowd-control effects to the enemy hit, allowing her teammates to pounce for the kill.

While she continues to be a strong pick, the support can be subdued if you know which heroes to use against her. This selection of heroes has abilities that can stifle her supporting capacity and turn her into a liability on the battlefield.

Minsitthar

Minsitthar is the best counter to all high-mobility and dash-dependent heroes — Mathilda included.

When timed and placed correctly, his King’s Calling ultimate can spell doom for the support as she will be rendered a sitting duck, unable to use her Guiding Wind and Circling Eagle.

Regardless if you’re playing the fighter as a roamer or as an EXP laner, reserve your King’s Calling ability solely for Mathilda.

Use the Flicker battle spell to land the ability more easily, and coordinate with your teammates to prioritize bursting her down.

With her taken down, the enemy team is automatically at a big disadvantage when a team fight breaks out, as they will be without her powerful support abilities. Consequently, this means that your team will have an easier time securing objectives.

Wanwan

While Mathilda is better in mobility than most marksmen in the game, Wanwan is an exception because of her Tiger Pace passive.

But it isn’t just mobility that allows her to dance with the pesky enemy support. On the off-chance that the Agile Tiger gets hit with the Circling Eagle, she can simply debuff the crowd control effects with Needles and Flowers and continue her offensive barrage.

With enough stacks on Mathilda, the marksman can trigger the Crossbow of Tang and melt the enemy’s HP bar quickly.

On Wanwan, make sure to get Corrosion Scythe early for the Attack Speed boost, then follow it up with Demon Hunter Sword. If you want to play more conservatively, get Rose Gold Meteor as it can help sustain Mathilda’s poke damage while also boosting your Physical Attack.

Hayabusa

The most straightforward approach to mitigate Mathilda’s impact in the game is quickly taking her down. One hero who can do that effectively is Hayabusa.

The assassin can obliterate the Swift Plume with repeated hits of Ninjutsu: Phantom Shuriken and Basic Attacks. In the process, he’ll be able to stack Shadow Marks to the enemy support, with each stack increasing the assassin’s damage output.

When Mathilda attempts to disengage using Guiding Wind, Hayabusa can use Ninjutsu: Quad Shadow to chase her down in any direction she tries to go. This gap-closing ability can also be used to dodge Mathilda’s Soul Blooms.
