Marvel Rivals is going big with the Chinese New Year event celebrations, introducing a brand new game mode called Clash of Dancing Lions.
Chinese New Year is celebrated with all the pomp and show in the gaming world every year, and this time, Marvel Rivals is joining the festivities with its own take on soccer.
Overwatch players might feel a sense of déjà vu, and Rocket League fans will, too. While Clash of Dancing Lions may not be the most original game mode, it certainly looks like a blast.
The game mode will be launched with Marvel Rivals Spring Festival and will remain available until February 14. Here’s how it works.
How does Clash of Dancing Lions work in Marvel Rivals?
Clash of Dancing Lions is a limited-time 3v3 game mode in Marvel Rivals, where players can choose from three available heroes.
The game unfolds in Wakanda’s World Arena, Marvel Rivals’ take on a classic Rocket League-style map. The goalposts are nearly identical, and the lively crowd in the bleachers adds to the excitement.
While it looks similar to Overwatch’s Lucioball, Marvel Rivals has added a unique touch by letting players select their character from Iron Fist, Black Widow, and Star-Lord.
Both teams must kick the ball into the opponent’s goal, and the first team to score 10 points wins. However, if the game remains neck and neck, a set timer will determine the outcome, with the team having the most points at the end declared the winner.
The game mode is available for a limited time, making it an excellent opportunity to score rare rewards. NetEase has already confirmed that Star Lord’s Ion’s Mane costume, featured in the trailer, will be free during the event.
While it’s expected to be unlocked by completing missions or reaching milestones in the new mode, the exact details haven’t been confirmed yet.
The game mode will go live on January 23 and will run until February 14.
