The Witcher 4 is real and features Geralt and Yennefer’s daughter, Ciri, as the protagonist in this new saga in the long-running RPG franchise.
The announcement was preceded by a stunning four-minute-long cinematic trailer by CD Projekt Red in which Ciri takes down a grotesque monster while being guided by the voice of her mentor and father, the Butcher of Blavakinn himself.
The trailer ends in a distressing manner, highlighting the immense brutality and unforgiving nature of this dark fantasy world.
One thing that was noticeably missing from this reveal, however, was the release timeline for the game. As such, this ONE Esports guide highlights the potential The Witcher 4 release date.
When is The Witcher 4 release date?
While CD Projekt Red has not yet announced games release date, it has confirmed the game has entered full production.
CDPR usually launches a new AAA game every four to five years. Given how Cyberpunk 2077 was originally released in late 2020, ideally, The Witcher 4 could target a late 2025 release date.
However, as of this writing, the scale and complexity of this project are unclear. On their official website, CDPR has listed that The Witcher 4 “aims to be the most immersive and ambitious open world game to date.”
Given Cyberpunk 2077’s disastrous launch, it’s likely CDPR would take extra measures to make The Witcher 4’s release as smooth as possible. Naturally, this means more development time.
It’s also worth noting that next installment is being made in Unreal Engine 5 instead of CDPR’s proprietary RED Engine, which is likely to create new developmental challenges.
All things considered, we are probably looking at a late 2026 or 2027 release date for The Witcher 4.
Please note that the aforementioned window isn’t indicative of The Witcher 4’s actual release date since we are not acquainted with CDRP’s development process and are merely connecting the dots from the outside.
We will, however, update this article when CDPR officially announces the release date, so don’t forget to hop back once in a while.
