Valve has finally followed up on their tenured game franchise of Half-Life with Half-Life: Alyx. The announcement was made by Valve just yesterday with a video trailer.

Half-Life: Alyx is a full-length VR game that puts you in the shoes of Alyx Vance, a deuteragonist who’s got some beef with the Combine. Although she had a secondary role in Half-Life 2, Alyx took over the reins as the protagonist from Gordon Freeman in Half-Life 2: Episode 1.

In the trailer, Valve showcased the high-definition upgrade of Half-Life’s world with life-like headcrabs and impressive hacking sequences. Even with such beautiful visuals and the added immersion of virtual reality, the overall gameplay seems very much akin to the previous entries of the series.

With the last HL game release being Half-Life 2: Episode Two in 2007, Valve has plenty of fans just waiting for a new Half-Life game. While the developer may have gotten a bad rep for remaining in the shadows, the announcement of Half-Life: Alyx may yet fan the flames of hope that Half-Life 3 is not yet dead.

Half-Life: Alyx is set to release in March 2020.
