The War Within is the opening chapter of a new saga called “The Worldsoul Saga” that throws players into a subterranean war.

The expansion features unseen subterranean zones filled with wonders and dangers. One specific location mentioned is the dark depths of the Nerubian empire, hinting at a possible clash with the insectoid race.
Xal’atath, the Harbinger, is the main antagonist. Her motives and her connection to the Void, a force of chaos in WoW lore, are shrouded in mystery.
