The Wanderer, a highly popular Anemo catalyst user, was finally released in Genshin Impact as a playable character during the Sumeru arc after years of anticipation.
Despite initial expectations of being an Electro Catalyst, he was given an Anemo Vision during the 3.3 Archon Quest. The best part with him is that players can be creative since you can give him a customed name after finishing the quest.
This best Wanderer build guide covers everything you need to know on how to make him one of the best Anemo DPS in your party.
Wanderer ascension and talent materials
Wanderer’s entire kit scales up on attack percentage, which makes it easier to build him. He needs to be ascended to level 90 to maximize his damage potential.
To ascend Wanderer, you must collect specific materials found in Sumeru and Inazuma. His boss drops, The Perpetual Caliber, could be obtained by defeating the Aeonblight Drake found in Sumeru.
The handguards could be easily farmed by defeating the Nobushi and the Kairagi found in Inazuma.
Lastly, The Rukkashava Mushrooms could be obtained from the large trees found in Sumeru (Don’t Worry Wanderer can fly). You can refer to this Wanderer farming guide, which will help you progress.
Here is the complete list of Wanderer’s ascension materials.

As a catalyst user, most of Wanderer’s damage comes from his normal and charged attack, which can be amplified by his elemental skill. His elemental skill lets him enter the Windfavored state, which makes him fly and deal with enhanced AOE damage.
Players should prioritize upgrading Wanderer’s normal attack first, then his elemental skill next. For this, you must collect Wanderer’s talent materials, which can be farmed on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday in the domain called Basket of Discipline in Sumeru.
The same handguards used in his ascension are the same materials used in his talent materials, so players should farm extra while on Inazuma.
Like the other Harbingers, they’re using a part of themselves as talent materials, just like his boss material that could be farmed in by defeating himself/Scaramouche on his trounce domain located on the rightmost of Sumeru.
Here is the list of Wanderer’s Talent materials.

Best Wanderer build: Weapons
Wanderer’s damage can be significantly enhanced by equipping him with a catalyst that has high base damage. Furthermore, opting for a catalyst with a critical hit sub-stat will further boost his damage output.
Since Wanderer mainly uses his normal and charged attacks to deal damage, the catalyst we have chosen gives him elemental damage boost and increases his attack speed.
We have also listed down catalysts that can be obtained by free-to-play players by crafting or the battle pass.

Wanderer’s signature weapon, “Tulaytullah’s Remembrance,” has one of the highest base attack weapons in the game. As mentioned earlier, his damage scales of off-attack percentage, meaning this weapon could maximize his damage potential.
Tulaytullah’s Remembrance has a unique passive that increases the character’s attack speed every time it uses an elemental skill. This greatly benefits Wanderer since this weapon could further amplify his elemental skill attack boost. This weapon also increases Wanderer’s damage whenever he performs a normal attack.
Alternatively, the catalyst Flowing Purity is a forgable 4-star catalyst that has a similar effect, but for this, you need to heal or remove the bond of life every time you use his elemental skill. Clearing the bond of life grants a 12% elemental damage bonus.
Similar catalysts like the Solar Pearl and the Widsith give a hefty base attack and substantial crit damage or crit rate percentage. If you lost 50/50 and obtained the Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds, you can use it as an alternative since it also has one of the highest base damage in the game.
Best Wanderer build: Artifacts
The artifact described in this section possesses a unique passive ability that enhances the Wanderer’s normal and charged attack damage each time Wanderer strikes an opponent.
This passive ability synergizes effectively with the Wanderer’s combat style.
WANDERER ARTIFACTS | ARTIFACT DESCRIPTION |
Desert Pavilion Chronicle | 2-Pieces: Anemo DMG Bonus +15% 4-Pieces: When Charged Attacks hit opponents, the equipping character’s Normal Attack SPD will increase by 10% while Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack DMG will increase by 40% for 15s. |
Shimenawa’s Reminiscence | 2-Pieces: ATK +18% 4-Pieces: When casting an Elemental Skill, if the character has 15 or more Energy, they lose 15 Energy and Normal/Charged/Plunging Attack DMG is increased by 50% for 10s. This effect will not trigger again during that duration. |
Viridescent Venerer | 2-Pieces: Anemo DMG Bonus +15% 4-Pieces: Increases Swirl DMG by 60%. Decreases opponent’s Elemental RES to the element infused in the Swirl by 40% for 10s. |
Echoes of an Offering | 2-Pieces: ATK +18% 4-Pieces: When Normal Attacks hit opponents, there is a 36% chance that it will trigger Valley Rite, which will increase Normal Attack DMG by 70% of ATK. This effect will be dispelled 0.05s after a Normal Attack deals DMG. If a Normal Attack fails to trigger Valley Rite, the odds of it triggering the next time will increase by 20%. This trigger can occur once every 0.2s. |
The Desert Pavilion Chronicle set is the best artifact choice for Wanderer due to its consistent and powerful bonuses that align perfectly with his role as a primary DPS. The combination of increased Anemo DMG, faster attack speed, and a substantial boost to all elemental attack damage ensures that Wanderer can maximize his damage output effectively.
Alternatively, the Shimenawa’s Reminiscence 4-piece set gives him a 50% damage increase each time Wanderer uses his elemental skill, while the 4-piece set Viridescent Venerer and the Echoes of an Offering gives Wanderer an additional attack bonus every time he lands an attack on an enemy.
For a hybrid 2-piece combination, you can combine Desert Pavilion Chronicle and Viridescent Venerer or a combination of Anemo damage bonus artifact and attack percentage boost artifact depending on your playstyle.
