Can you quell the blaze of Genshin Impact’s fiery new boss?
The Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant is one of two formidable new normal bosses introduced in Genshin Impact’s version 5.0 update.
This mutated Qucusaurus has evolved beyond anything seen in Natlan, possessing powers far superior to any other creature in the region.
Ready to face the heat? Here’s everything you need to know about the Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant, including its location and how to beat it.
Where to find the Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant
The Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant becomes available once you arrive in Natlan. To challenge this fiery beast, head to the top-left corner of the region, just north of the Stadium of the Sacred Flame.
The boss lurks beneath the Basin of Unnumbered Flames, with the nearest waypoints being the Basin of Unnumbered Flames itself and Huitztli Hill.
Once you’re at the boss marker, you’ll spot a broken bridge with a massive drop below. Leap and descend until you reach a smoke formation.
As soon as you see the ground, the Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant will appear nearby, soaring in the direction of its target.
Best Genshin team composition to defeat and counter the Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant
When the Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant first appears, it starts with a few attacks and a charged strike, which are easy enough to dodge using the sprint button.
However, things take a fiery turn when it enters its Golden Flame mode. The boss shrinks in size but becomes engulfed in flames, signaling a far more dangerous phase.
At this point, brace yourself and keep your distance. The Tyrant will launch a barrage of missiles in multiple waves which you’ll need to dodge.
Its final attack in a wave is a massive missile that summons a Flamewind Feather on the ground.
This feather doesn’t explode on its own—it’s activated when the Goldflame Qucusaur dives into it, causing a powerful explosion.
While avoiding the feather is a safe option, you can also destroy it using any character with elemental abilities that react with Pyro. Hydro characters would be especially effective here.
Doing so not only prevents a massive explosion, but you’ll also stop the boss from soaring into the skies, giving you a better chance to strike when it’s down.
After the Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant completes its Golden Flame form, it will enter a briefly weakened state. This is your golden opportunity — unleash your team’s strongest combos and deliver maximum damage while the boss is vulnerable.
The key to how to beat it lies in your team composition. Make sure to include at least one Hydro character and a reliable healer to make the battle smoother and increase your chances of defeating the boss.
Recommended team composition (premium)
To destroy a Flamewind Feather in this boss battle, you only need a hydro attack, making any Hydro applicator a viable option against the Tyrant.
Characters with low cooldowns on their Elemental Skills are particularly effective, as they can quickly eliminate the feathers.
