Best Lyney build: Ascension and talent materials
To kick off the best Lyney build guide, Lyney’s abilities scale up on attack percentage which relies on consuming his own HP when firing a charged attack. To utilize this further, you must ascend him to the highest level.
For this, you need to grind specific materials found in Fontaine, as well as monster drops from the Fatui and the world boss called “Emperor of Fire and Iron.” You can refer to this Lyney’s farming guide route article to speed up your farming process.

Lyney requires another set of materials to upgrade his skills. Some of his talent materials are farmable in the “Rhyming Rhythm” domain every Monday, Thursday, and Sunday.
Most of his abilities scale off of attack percentage, making him easy to build. Lyney’s abilities require him to be above 60% HP in order to proc the “Prop Arrow,” which deals pyro damage and summons a Grin-Malkin Hat. His charged attack stacks damage as he consumes HP.
The next thing to upgrade is Lyney’s elemental skill, “Bewildering Lights.” This ability deals AOE pyro damage, which consumes his stacks; the more stacks, the bigger the damage. This ability works with his charged attack since it also heals Lyney.
Additionally, his ultimate ability transforms him into a Grin-Malkin Cat, which damages multiple enemies and explodes into fireworks, dealing AOE pyro damage

Best Lyney build: Weapons
Lyney’s kit scales off of attack, meaning a bow with good base damage and crit sub-stat substantially increases his damage output.
These bows have either a high base attack damage or a good passive that synergizes with Lyney’s abilities. Five-star bow and free-to-play options are also listed below, which gives you varieties to make Lyney deal massive damage.
WEAPON | STATS |
The First Great Magic | Base ATK: 608CRIT DMG: 66.2% Parsifal the Great DMG dealt by Charged Attacks increased by 16%. When the wielder has 1/2/3 or more Theatrics stacks, Movement SPD will be increased by 4%/7%/10%. |
Aqua Simulacra | Base ATK: 542CRIT DMG: 88.2% The Cleansing Form HP is increased by 16%. When there are opponents nearby, the DMG dealt by the wielder of this weapon is increased by 20%. This will take effect whether the character is on-field or not. |

Prototype Crescent | Base ATK: 510ATK: 41.3% Unreturning Charged Attack hits on weak points increase Movement SPD by 10% and ATK by 36% for 10s. |
Scion of the Blazing Sun | Base ATK: 565CRIT Rate: 18.4% The Way of Sunfire After a Charged Attack hits an opponent, a Sunfire Arrow will descend upon the opponent hit, dealing 60% ATK as DMG, and applying the Heartsearer effect to the opponent damaged by said Arrow for 10s. Opponents affected by Heartsearer take 28% more Charged Attack DMG from the wielder. A Sunfire Arrow can be triggered once every 10s. |
Song of Stillness | Base ATK: 510ATK: 41.3% Benthic Pulse After the wielder is healed, they will deal 16% more DMG for 8s. This can be triggered even when the character is not on the field. |
Lyney’s signature weapon, The First Great Magic, is one of the perfect choices for him since it provides a base ATK of 608 and a remarkable CRIT DMG increase of 66.2%.
Its unique passive, Parsifal the Great, synergizes perfectly with Lyney’s elemental abilities, providing additional ATK and Movement SPD boosts based on the elemental composition of her party.
Similarly, Aqua Simulacra also gives a respectable base ATK and CRIT DMG bonus, making it Lyney’s second-best option.
If you still have a terrible gacha on the weapons banner, alternatives like Amos bow, Prototype Crescent, Scion of the Blazing Sun, and Song of Stillness offer ATK and CRIT stats. This should have you set with the best Lyney weapons for your build.
Best Lyney build: Artifacts
Moving into the artifacts portion of our best Lyney build guide, these artifacts give a unique passive whenever a character’s health increases or decreases during combat.
These passives utilize Lyney’s fluctuating health, which gives him the boost he needs in a battle. You can freely choose whichever is available in your arsenal.
LYNEY ARTIFACTS | ARTIFACT DESCRIPTION |
Marechaussee Hunter | 2-Pieces: Normal and Charged Attack DMG +15% 4-Pieces: When current HP increases or decreases, CRIT Rate will be increased by 12% for 5s. Max 3 stacks. |
Vermillion Hereafter | 2-Pieces: ATK +18%. 4-Pieces:After using an Elemental Burst, this character will gain the Nascent Light effect, increasing their ATK by 8% for 16s. When the character’s HP decreases, their ATK will further increase by 10%. This further increase can occur this way a maximum of 4 times. This effect can be triggered once every 0.8s. Nascent Light will be dispelled when the character leaves the field. If an Elemental Burst is used again during the duration of Nascent Light, the original Nascent Light will be dispelled. |
Shimenawa’s Reminiscence | 2-Pieces: ATK +18%. 4-Pieces: When casting an Elemental Skill, if the character has 15 or more Energy, they lose 15 Energy and Normal/Charged/Plunging Attack DMG is increased by 50% for 10s. This effect will not trigger again during that duration. |
Crimson Witch of Flames | 2-Pieces: Pyro DMG Bonus +15% 4-Pieces: Increases Overloaded, Burning, and Burgeon DMG by 40%. Increases Vaporize and Melt DMG by 15%. Using Elemental Skill increases the 2-Piece Set Bonus by 50% of its starting value for 10s. Max 3 stacks. |
The Marechaussee Hunter artifact set is the best choice for Lyney since it significantly boosts both Normal and Charged Attack DMG, which synergizes perfectly whenever Lyney’s HP fluctuates.
Alternatively, the Vermillion Hereafter 4-piece passive can be a substitute, but Lyney must constantly use his ultimate to proc its damage increase.
Similarly, if you’re unlucky on your energy recharge stat on Lyney, Shimenawa’s Reminiscence offers an ATK boost after casting an Elemental Skill.
Lastly, the Crimson Witch of Flames set can be considered for its Pyro DMG Bonus. However, it may not synergize as effectively with Lyney’s abilities, but it does well with vaporize and melt elemental reactions.
