What does Penacony mean in Honkai Star Rail?
Penacony comes from “penal colony” as revealed in HoYoverse’s dev video.
A penal colony is a place where convicted criminals are sent to serve their sentences, often in remote or isolated locations.
These colonies were historically established by governments as a form of punishment and to remove criminals from society. In these colonies, inmates would perform hard labor, such as mining or building infrastructure, as part of their punishment.

Centuries ago, Penacony was once a frontier prison utilized by the Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC) for detaining criminals. However, over the years, and through various incidents, the control of this planet shifted to The Family.
Penacony has since undergone a remarkable transformation, becoming a popular resort that attracts visitors from every corner of the galaxy.
Penacony is also referred to as the “Land of Dreams” because of The Reverie Hotel. Guests staying here will travel to a world of sweet dreams and enjoy a feast of luxury and extravagance in a seemingly omnipotent metropolis.
Why is the Astral Express in Penacony?
Towards the end of the Astral Express Crew’s adventures on Jarilo-VI, The Family at Penacony sent out formal invitations to several galactic factions, which was a historic first.
The Interastral Peace Corporation and the Astral Express were among the factions that received the invitations.
The crew then travels to Penacony to experience The Charmony Festival.
