Black Shrew Esports (BSE) are officially the kings of kings.
In a dominant grand final performance, BSE overwhelmed Dominator Esports, sweeping the home team 4-0, to clinch the Honor of Kings Championship 2024 title.
With the victory, they claim a $300,000 prize and etch their names in history as the inaugural champions of Honor of Kings’ first international tournament.
Previously, BSE, whose roster played under the banner of LGD Gaming MY, also took home the Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2 title in Malaysia last July.
Black Shrew Esports took down Dominator Esports swiftly for Honor of Kings Championship 2024 crown
BSE’s championship run was built on consistency and redemption. After surviving a scare from Nova Esports in the early rounds, BSE avenged their only group-stage loss by edging out Fearless Esports HK in a 3-2 thriller.
This win propelled them into the upper bracket final, where they bested Dominator Esports to secure their spot in the grand finals.
Dominator Esports, the home team from Indonesia, followed a similar path of dominance until they ran into BSE in the upper bracket.
After falling to BSE, Dominator fought their way through the lower bracket, defeating Team Secret in a five-game nail-biter to earn another shot at the title.
But in the grand final, Black Shrew Esports proved too formidable, showcasing a level of play that left no room for Dominator to rally.
BSE came out with a fast-paced early-game composition, keeping Dominator Esports on the back pedal throughout the 16-minute opener. Farm laner Ryan “JR” Na led the charge with an impressive 6/2/8 KDA, as Dominator struggled to catch up in the mid-to-late game.
In the second match, BSE upped the ante, ending the game in under 11 minutes with a relentless assault. Twice during the match, BSE aced Dominator, rushing their base to secure a 2-0 series lead.
Once again, JR shined on Arli, boasting a 6/1/2 KDA, leaving Dominator reeling and scrambling for answers.
In an attempt to stymie JR’s impact, Dominator denied his signature pick, Arli, and gave it to Toshi. Undeterred, JR switched to Lady Sun, who dismantle Dominator’s defenses even faster.
Within eight minutes, BSE destroyed every base turret, closing the game in just under 10. Tat Yann “MusangKing” Chan took the spotlight with a perfect 5/0/6 KDA on Yuhuan, earning the game’s MVP honors.
BSE faced some resistance in the final game but they proved too much for Dominator, who ran them down in 13 minutes to cap off the grand final series.
With this victory, BSE asserts its position as the top team in Honor of Kings, setting the standard as the esports calendar shifts to 2025.
