Malaysian gamers, the moment you’ve been waiting for is here!
Honor of Kings has just released the highly anticipated Lee Chong Wei skin, allowing players to embody the spirit of Malaysia’s badminton legend and triple-silver medalist.
This historic release marks the first time a national sports athlete from Malaysia has been featured in a video game, making the Lee Chong Wei skin a must-have for fans and players alike.
Lee Chong Wei skin is first-ever national sports athlete skin in Honor of Kings
Honor of Kings has unveiled its first-ever national sports athlete skin, featuring Malaysia’s beloved badminton star and triple-silver medalist, Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei.
This collaboration celebrates Lee Chong Wei’s legendary career and showcases the deep cultural connection Honor of Kings continues to build with its global player base.
“We’re always looking for new and novel ways to introduce national heritage, culture, or in this case, sports in Honor of Kings,” stated Eugene Chin, Tencent Games Country Manager.
He further highlighted the success of the Silat-themed skin for Lam, which debuted earlier this month and was well-received by the local community.
“We hope to showcase more national figures that are close to the hearts of Malaysians to resonate more with our players,” Chin added, emphasizing their goal to make Honor of Kings a truly global MOBA that everyone can enjoy.
The introduction of Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei’s skin celebrates a national icon and also represents a significant step forward in the game’s cultural integration.
Following the Lam Silat-themed skin, this release continues Honor of Kings’ tradition of embracing and showcasing global cultures and sports.
The game has previously featured martial arts like Lucha Libre and Capoeira, contributing to its diverse and vibrant global server.
Lee Chong Wei Han Xin skin appearance
The skin, which has been personally endorsed by Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei, is modeled after the hero Han Xin.
The choice of Han Xin is a deliberate one, as his story mirrors that of Malaysia’s badminton star.
Han Xin, much like Lee Chong Wei, comes from humble beginnings, yet through sheer resilience and unwavering determination, he rises to become one of history’s greatest strategists.
The Lee Chong Wei Han Xin skin features the hero donning the golden kit of Malaysia equipped with badminton icon’s signature blue-shaft and yellow handle racket.
Starting August 29, 2024 players in Malaysia can dive into Honor of Kings to claim this special skin for free.
By completing in-game missions and collecting 1000 tokens, players can don the likeness of Lee Chong Wei and bring his legendary spirit into the Gorge.
