Professional gaming team Evil Geniuses (EG) has announced that they will be returning to the League of Legends scene next season.
EG revealed that Riot Games has accepted their bid to purchase the slot of former LoL team Echo Fox in the North American League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) come next season. The members of EG’s LoL roster has not been announced yet, but they will be “building a team from the ground up” according to the org’s official statement.
Nicole LaPointe Jameson, the CEO of Evil Geniuses, is happy to be back in the LCS.
“Part of my experience with EG is knowing that in order to be considered the best, you have to compete where the best are,” Jameson said. “I could not imagine an EG without a push towards the LCS, and we’re happy to be able to put down roots as a franchise owner.”
“We’ve had nothing but a good experience working with Riot, and we’ll be expanding our operations to Los Angeles to accommodate the needs of the new roster. We’re looking forward to the new members of the EG cabal that will make all this possible.”

It has been five years since Evil Geniuses departed the LoL scene. Their former roster consisted of popular players like support Mitch “Krepo” Voorspoels and mid-laner Henrik “Froggen” Hansen.
Echo Fox withdrew from participating in competitive League of Legends due to racism issues inside its organization.
