With LCK Summer 2023 approaching, teams have already confirmed their starting lineups for the new season.

The majority of teams competing in the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) have opted to maintain their original rosters from the Spring Split, signaling a commitment to continuity and building upon previous successes.

Among the teams keeping their winning formulas intact are powerhouse organizations T1 and Gen.G. This decision comes on the heels of their impressive performances at the recent Mid-Season Invitational (MSI 2023), with T1 securing a respectable third place and Gen.G concluding the tournament in fourth.

With the stakes higher than ever, this LCK Summer Split holds a significant prize for the victors. The winning team will secure automatic qualification for Worlds 2023, a prestigious tournament scheduled to take place in none other than South Korea later this year.

OKSavingsBank BRION

After parting ways with Fredit, BRION has undergone a rebranding and is now known as OKSavingsBank BRION.

With this rebranding comes a revamped player roster. Jungler Jeon “Raptor” Eo-jin has bid farewell to the team and moved on to compete for their sister team, BRION Challengers.

OKSavingsBank BRION are determined to redeem themselves after a disappointing eighth-place finish in the LCK Spring 2023 season.

Dplus KIA

Despite their underwhelming performance in the LCK Spring 2023 playoffs, Dplus KIA has decided to maintain their lineup.

Dplus KIA’s journey in the playoffs ended with a fifth-place finish, as they fell short in a 1-3 defeat against Hanwha Life Esports, thus missing the chance to represent Korea at MSI 2023.

What makes this roster stand out is the remarkable presence of not one, but three Worlds champions within their roster. Heo “ShowMaker” Su and Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu were crowned champions at Worlds 2020, while Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu achieved glory at Worlds 2022. Their collective expertise and experience bring a formidable advantage to the team.

DRX

DRX fans can expect a notable change in the bot lane for Summer 2023 as the organization decides to transition Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil to inactive.

Stepping into his role will be Park “Paduck” Seok-hyeon, who has earned a promotion from the DRX Challenger roster. This marks an exciting LCK debut for the rookie player, having been part of the DRX academy since 2021.

Additionally, the team welcomes another academy player, Kang “kyeahoo” Ye-hoo, who will serve as the substitute player for the mid lane.

Gen.G

Gen.G aims to secure consecutive LCK championships in Summer 2023, following their impressive victory in LCK Spring 2023 while retaining their current player roster.

Notably, Kim “Museong” Moo-seong has transitioned from being the team’s coach to now serving as their substitute top laner for this season.

The experienced trio of Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon, Han “Peanut” Wang-ho, and Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon will remain integral to Gen.G’s success. Their remarkable contributions were evident during Gen.G’s LCK championship win in the 2022 Summer Final, where they convincingly defeated T1 with a 3-0 score.

Hanwha Life Esports

Hanwha Life Esports is aiming to achieve a significant milestone by securing its first-ever LCK championship in LCK Summer 2023. The question remains: Can they finally make it happen?

Despite their fourth-place finish at the LCK Spring 2023 playoffs, HLE has chosen to maintain their player roster without making any changes. This decision demonstrates their belief in the team’s potential and their desire to give their original Spring roster an opportunity to grow and excel.

The team will be guided by seasoned player Park “Viper” Do-hyeon, who previously claimed the World Championship title in 2021 with Edward Gaming.

Kwangdong Freecs

After securing a seventh-place finish in the LCK Spring 2023 regular season, Kwangdong Freecs is determined to achieve a more favorable placement in Summer 2023 while maintaining its current player roster.

The team consists predominantly of KDF newcomers, with the exception of Jeong “Moham” Jae-hun, who has been a support for the team for over a year.

KT Rolster

Substitute player Lee “PerfecT” Seung-min has made the decision to part ways with the lineup to join KT Rolster’s sister team, KT Challengers.

As a result of this transition, Kwangdong Freecs will rely solely on the skills and expertise of Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan in the jungle position during LCK Summer 2023. The Korean pro has consistently showcased his exceptional abilities, particularly through his impressive performances in the Korean solo queue, where he has climbed to the top ranks in previous seasons.

Liiv SANDBOX

In light of Lee “Envyy” Myeong-joon’s departure from the team and the Korean region, Liiv SANDBOX has made a significant acquisition by signing Park “Teddy” Jin-seong, a three-time LCK champion.

Teddy, a former player from T1, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Liiv SANDBOX. Notably, he is renowned for his unparalleled farming abilities, having achieved the highest creep score in League of Legends history. His playstyle is often characterized as that of a late-game hyper carry, with one of his standout champions being Ezreal.

Nongshim RedForce

Nongshim RedForce is bolstering their mid lane options with the addition of two new players, Oh “Callme” Ji-hoon and Song “Quad” Su-hyeong.

Callme’s promotion from the NS Esports Academy to the main roster showcases the team’s confidence in his abilities. Joining Nongshim RedForce, Callme brings fresh talent and potential to the table, ready to make his mark in the LCK Summer 2023 season.

Quad, on the other hand, made the decision to depart from Gen.G as a streamer to actively participate in Nongshim RedForce’s starting lineup.

After a disappointing performance in the LCK Spring 2023 Split, where they clinched 10th place, Nongshim RedForce is determined to turn the tide in the upcoming season. The team looks to strengthen their mid lane presence and make a resounding comeback in pursuit of higher standings.

T1

T1 enters this year’s summer season with the same formidable roster that won the LCK Spring 2022 championship.

Fresh off their remarkable performance at MSI 2023, where they secured a commendable third-place finish, T1 has been consistently on the brink of triumph with their long-standing lineup. They secured second place in MSI 2022, LCK Summer 2022, Worlds 2022, and LCK Spring 2023, falling just short of claiming the top spot.

Now, the question remains: Will T1 finally unleash the full potential of their lineup and dominate the competition in LCK Summer 2023?
