Riot Games has introduced a new game mode, combining gameplay elements of League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics, to provide fans with a unique gaming experience.
In this new mode called League of Legends Arena, players can select their strongest League of Legends champions to team up with a friend (or another player from solo queue) and engage in combat rounds against other players. As the rounds progress, players will gain power-ups called Augments that enhance their abilities. The ultimate objective is to emerge as the sole surviving team after multiple rounds of combat.
The launch of Arena coincides with the release of the franchise’s latest skin line, where champions from Soul Fighter will occasionally make cameo appearances during matches. These appearances can prove advantageous or disadvantageous for the players, adding an extra layer of anticipation and strategy to the matches.

League of Legends Arena, a new game mode, lets you experience a fresh map and unique environment
The League of Legends Arena game mode will be available to players from July 20 to August 28 as a part of patch 13.14. Currently, it is available for testing in the game’s Public Beta Environment (PBE).
The development team aims to “let (players) truly explore endless possibilities” with League of Legends Arena.
“To me, League has always been about exploration,” Daniel “Riot Maxw3ll” Emmons said in a dev blog. “Summoner’s Rift is great, but it doesn’t support all avenues of creativity and skill expression.”
Players can also look forward to Tournament of Souls, a League of Legends-exclusive combo-battler reminiscent of classic fighting games. In this mode, players assume the role of Samira and earn Reputation by participating in League matches. Accumulating Reputation allows them to challenge new opponents and unlock additional abilities for Samira, enabling her to progress further in the tournament. The ultimate objective is to emerge victorious by defeating all 10 opponent champions and claiming the prestigious title of the tournament’s champion.
Both Arena and Tournament of Souls are a part of the Soul Fighter skin line event, a six-week cross-game event spanning League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, and Wild Rift. Throughout this event, players can indulge in a variety of new game modes, cosmetics, and content across all titles for a duration of over a month.
Soul Fighter represents an alternate universe paying homage to the fighting game genre through an array of vibrant and diverse skins for champions Naafiri, Pyke, Gwen, Evelynn, Samira, Viego, Sett, Lux, Jhin, Shaco, and more.
In this skin line, these champions battle it out on the grandest stage known as the “Tournament of Souls” to prove their worth. Hosted by the enigmatic God’s Eye, this competition showcases fighters with extraordinary abilities, engaging in relentless combat until only one victor remains standing.
Additionally, Riot has an upcoming, standalone, assist-based fighting title called Project L that will feature various LoL characters/champions and Runeterra locations such as Piltover & Zaun.
