G2 Esports secured a remarkable victory in the LEC Season Finals 2023.
They triumphed 3-1 against Fnatic at the Sud de France Arena in Montpellier, France.
G2’s win earns them first seed for Worlds 2023, along with a prize of US$70,000 (EUR€65,000). Fnatic, while putting up a strong fight, will represent the region as EMEA’s second seed and takes home US$42,000 (EUR€40,000).

It was during the mid game that G2 started gaining momentum with their combos and outplays.
In a fight for the Ocean Drake around the 18-minute mark, Fnatic initially took down two of G2’s members.

Despite being outnumbered, Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik’s K’Sante remained composed, eliminating Marek “Humanoid” Brázda’s Syndra. He then executed a crucial two-man Ntofo Strikes, dispatching Iván “Razork” Martín Díaz’s Maokai, before cleaning up Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus’ Alistar for a triple kill.
In another teamfight at the Baron Nashor pit, Martin “Yike” Sundelin’s Rell unleashed a four-man Magnet Storm, paving the way for G2 to secure an ace and ultimately clinch the victory in game one.
It’s a matchpoint for G2 Esports in game two
G2 showcased their dominance in game two, taking down Fnatic’s members one by one throughout the early and mid game.
As late game approached, G2 had snowballed their advantage to such an extent that Fnatic found themselves unable to do much more than flee during teamfights.

The second game concluded with G2 firmly in control of the series, boasting a commanding 12,000 gold lead and a staggering 26 kills, with nearly half of them on Steven “Hans Sama” Liv’s Kai’Sa.
Fnatic bounces back in game three
Fnatic’s team composition went online in game three. Fans got to see Oh “Noah” Hyeon-taek’s Kai’Sa secure significant kills in the late game on his opposing carries, Hans Sama’s Sivir and Rasmus “Caps” Winter’s Yone.
With these crucial kills, Fnatic turned the tide and became victorious in the third game, making their mark in the series.
Speedrunning through game four
Fnatic’s resurgence was swiftly quashed by G2 in the fourth game. G2 unleashed their full potential with Caps on Syndra, who achieved a flawless KDA of 10/0/7.
G2 established an overwhelming lead with 24 kills, four times more than Fnatic’s six, and a staggering 16,000 gold advantage.
They were in complete command of the game, and it concluded by the 23-minute mark, marking the quickest victory in the entire series.
G2 Esports makes history as the first LEC Season Finals champions. They’ve had an exceptional year in the EMEA league, clinching victories in both the Winter and Summer seasons.
This triumph is particularly significant for Caps, as it’s his 10th LEC title, the most that any player has won in the region. Former teammate Luka “PerkZ” Perković had won eight.
In addition to this remarkable achievement, he’s also named the MVP of the grand finals.
