The MSI 2024 format has been announced today by Riot Games, along with the dates of the event, venue, and ticket prices.
The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2024 takes place in Chengdu, China from May 1 to 19 at the Chengdu Financial City Performing Arts Center. It is the first time that an international LoL esports event is held in this city.
The MSI 2024 Draw Show will take place after the LPL Spring 2024 final on April 20, 2024.

MSI 2024 format
MSI 2023 already saw a revised tournament format comprising double elimination playoffs brackets.
This year, Riot Games adds even more stakes — the winning team at MSI 2024 is guaranteed a spot at Worlds 2024, which counts as an additional slot for their region.
The second place winner secures an additional seed for their region at Worlds.
In total, there are 12 teams competing at MSI 2024:
- Two teams each from LPL, LCK, LCS, and LEC
- One team from LLA, CBLOL, PCS, and VCS respectively
MSI 2024 Play-In Stage
The second seed from LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS, as well as the top seed from LLA, CBLOL, PCS, and VCS (a total of eight teams) will start their tournament journey at the Play-In Stage.
The teams are drawn into two, best-of-three, double-elimination brackets. The winners and
runners-up of each bracket advance to the next stage.
MSI 2024 Bracket Stage
These top four teams from the Play-Ins join the remaining four competitors: the top-seeded teams from LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS. In total, there are eight teams competing in the Bracket Stage.
Teams are drawn into four matches to kick off a single best-of-five double elimination bracket.
The final takes place on May 19 to determine the MSI 2024 champion and first Worlds 2024 qualified team.
