Linkin Park takes center stage with Worlds 2024 anthem, Heavy Is The Crown
Linkin Park’s Heavy Is The Crown is the 11th Worlds anthem and the game’s most successful release. Debuting on September 24, 2024, it has amassed over 270 million global audio streams and 57 million YouTube video views in a month.
Its thumbnail features T1 mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, the greatest League of Legends esports player of all time who won four World Championships in 2011, 2015, 2016, and most recently in 2023, a feat that no other player has accomplished.
The music video pays tribute to T1’s historic victory at Worlds 2023, seven years since their last triumph in 2016. Its visuals focus on Faker, who sits on the throne in his fortress. One by one, new challengers arrive, taking on his teammates — Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok — in a tussle for the crown.
This same T1 roster is now vying for this year’s World Championship. If they win, it will be the organization’s and Faker’s fifth title, which will also make the rest of his teammates two-time winners.
This performance at Worlds marks the beginning of the second leg of Linkin Park’s From Zero World Tour, leading up to the release of their new album on November 15 as well as two sold-out stadium shows in São Paulo, Brazil.
Ashnikko, an American singer, songwriter, and rapper known for her unique blend of pop, hip-hop, and punk influences, collaborated on the Arcane season two soundtrack, contributing her vocals to Paint The Town Blue, released on September 5, 2024.
It is the first single released from the soundtrack and it was used in its main trailer. The song centers around Jinx, a deuteragonist in Arcane alongside her sister Vi. She is also one of Ashnikko’s favorite characters.
The Worlds 2024 Opening Ceremony will be the first time Ashnikko performs this track live.
Arcane season two Act I releases on November 9, Act II on November 16, and Act III on November 23, 2024.
Mars Atlas, an emerging artist known for blending genres such as pop and electronic music, and Tiffany Aris, a singer-songwriter and musician recognized for her powerful vocals and emotive songwriting, will perform Still Here, the song and title of the Season 2024 cinematic released on January 10, 2024.
Riot Games creates these yearly cinematics to usher in a new competitive year of League of Legends: Awaken in 2019, Warriors in 2020, Ruination in 2021, The Call in 2022, and The Brink of Infinity in 2023.
