Experience Arcane like you’ve never before on the new ARAM map that’s being added to the League of Legends client.
While tweaks to champions are consistently implemented on Howling Abyss, we haven’t received any major updates to the map itself for many years. The last minor change was in 2023 with the addition of a new bush. We also had fallen towers for a while, but that mechanic was removed.
For a limited time period, you can choose to ditch the cold for a hot conflict area to experience true hostility between Piltover and Zaun, just like in Arcane.
What is ARAM?
All Random, All Mid is a popular League of Legends game mode where players are randomly assigned champions and battle on a single lane map called the Howling Abyss.
The focus is on fast-paced, team-oriented gameplay, as there are no side lanes or jungle — it’s a straightforward confrontation.
Players respawn quickly after being eliminated, which leads to continuous action and frequent team fights. It’s a fun way to enjoy the game with a different strategy and dynamics compared to the traditional 5v5 Summoner’s Rift.
New ARAM map Bridge of Progress
Key elements of ARAM have been adopted for the Bridge of Progress. ONE Esports had the chance to play the new ARAM map in a special preview. Players can expect:
- A different type of “Snowball”
- Bushes replaced by sewer gas/fog because bushes don’t make sense in this environment
- An extra sidelane on the bottom side of the map
- New shopkeepers, announcers
- New Piltover and Zaun-themed buffs when inhibitors are destroyed
- Nemesis Quests for champions that appear in Arcane
“Our team has always thought we could do more to bring the environments of Runeterra to the game.
We haven’t yet given players the chance to play in Piltover or Zaun specifically (and a lot of other areas for that matter)… So why not now at the dawn of season two?” said Eduardo Cortejoso, Modes Product Lead, on why they landed on this theme.
Compared to Howling Abyss, he explained that longtime ARAM enjoyers should expect Bridge of Progress to play like how the mode is intended. The “flavor” is present despite small adjustments to relics, snowballs, and inhibitors.
On the topic of sidelanes, he said, “I tend to prefer engagers and fighters myself, so having a new angle in which I can kinda gank the enemy team is a really refreshing experience that doesn’t really change ARAM too much. But does provide just enough for a few champ classes to get a different experience!”
Nemesis Quests pairings following Arcane theme
- Vi and Warwick
- Jayce and Viktor
- Singed and Heimerdinger
- Jinx and Caitlyn
- Jinx and Ekko
New ARAM map release date and end date
Bridge of Progress debuts in LoL patch 14.22 on November 6, 2024. It will be removed from the in-game client after January 8, 2025, which gives you about two months to enjoy the unique ARAM experience.
