NewJeans devours Worlds 2023 opening ceremony stage with powerful “Gods” performance
The K-pop sensation made a bold entrance, exuding confidence with fierce expressions that captivated esports fans. Their attire and headgear seemed to draw inspiration from the Divine Sword Irelia skin of the Immortal Journey line.
For the first time, fans were treated to a live performance of the theme song accompanied by a mesmerizing dance choreography.
As the performance reached its climax, a colossal Mordekaiser materialized in the audience area, courtesy of augmented reality technology. The focus then shifted to a Riot Games actor, wielding Leona’s shield, while NewJeans continued to sing and dance behind him.
The performance concluded with a clash between AR animations of Leona and Mordekaiser, culminating in Leona’s victory.
The grand finale of the opening ceremony featured NewJeans dancing to the anthem’s instrumental part, setting the stage for the introduction of the finals teams T1 and Weibo Gaming.
