After losing to Spanish team MAD Lions in the first round of the LEC playoffs, G2 Esports got their much-awaited revenge in the semifinals.
Early in game three, MAD Lions tried to gank G2 Luka “Perkz” Perković’s Azir in the bottom lane. To set this up, Norman “Kaiser” Kaiser’s Bard opened up a shortcut using his ability Magical Journey and, together with Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság’s Ezreal and Zhiqian “Shadow” Zhao’s Lee Sin, all three moved into the portal.

However, Perkz knew exactly what they were doing, and before they could even reach the end of the tunnel, he used Emperor’s Divide to send them hurling into the waiting arms of Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle’s Taric and Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski’s Rek’Sai.
MAD’s Andrei “Orome” Popa tried to come to the rescue of his teammates, but it was too late as Kaiser and Shadow were both quickly eliminated.
G2 finished the match in 32 minutes, gaining an 11,000 gold lead and a 28/17/52 KDA. They finished the semifinal with a 3-1 standing against MAD Lions.
