G2 Esports has finally confirmed that it has signed former Fnatic superstar Martin “Rekkles” Larsson. G2 made the announcement after parting ways with its Croatian bot laner Luka “Perkz” Perković.
“Maybe you thought I’d stay in Fnatic forever,” said Rekkles in G2’s roster announcement. “But I’m ready for a new challenge and grateful for everything you’ve given me. I promised I would win Worlds. And I will.”
Everyone was shocked at the bold decision that Rekkles made, especially since he has been playing for Fnatic since 2012. G2 Esports themselves still find it odd to type in “G2 Rekkles” in their posts.
His former teammates top laner Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau and his bot lane duo partner Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov both wished him the best in his decision to join G2. Bwipo in particular is thrilled to play against Rekkles now that he’s playing for a different team.
One of Rekkles’ senior teammates, Paul “sOAZ” Boyer, even got emotional as he was watching the first few minutes of Fnatic’s tribute video to their star bot laner.
On the lighter side of things, G2’s jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski welcomed Rekkles by addressing him as “the most attractive botlane in the world” together with support player Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle.
Meanwhile, miraculous LEC team Schalke 04 is quite excited to play against G2 Rekkles this coming 2021 season.
With the addition of Rekkles to G2 Esports, parody Twitter account DeficioEgo has noticed that this off-season shuffle might be the spiciest that LoL Esports has ever experienced after the retirement of Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg to become a coach and the transfer of Perkz to the LCS to join Cloud9.

Memes aside, El Zanate created this beautiful fan art to commemorate and welcome Rekkles to the G2 Army.
Rekkles will be G2 Esports’ bot laner starting Season 11 next year. He is under contract with G2 for three years according to ocelote.
