Our ONE Esports Worlds 2023 power rankings will highlight key things you need to know about the top teams competing at the League of Legends world championship.
22 of the best teams from around the globe will go up against each other in a new format. Instead of the group stage, it’s been replaced by a swiss format where stakes are higher than ever.
The playoffs will continue to be played in a single-elimination format comprising the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final where teams only have one chance to advance.

At Worlds 2022 last year, DRX made history as the first Play-Ins team to reach the final and win the championship. They edged out fellow LCK rivals 3-2 to claim the trophy.

What are they fighting for? These teams possess the highest stakes in our Worlds 2023 power rankings
JD Gaming
JD Gaming are one tournament away from achieving the “golden royal road.” They defeated Bilibili Gaming 3-1 to win LPL Spring 2023 and MSI 2023, then edged out LNG Esports 3-2 in Summer 2023.
All that’s left is the world championship. If they manage to win this, they would’ve done what no other team has done, not even SK Telecom T1 in their prime, so the stakes have never been higher.
At Worlds 2020 they bowed out in the quarterfinals. At Worlds 2022 they were eliminated by T1 in the semifinals. Will they be able to advance further this time at Worlds 2023?
Gen.G
Even though Gen.G had to overhaul their bot lane this year, it clearly hasn’t affected their results.
Bot laner Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk went to JD Gaming in the LPL, while Son “Lehends” Si-woo moved to KT Rolster.
Replacing Ruler for the 2023 season is rookie Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan. In his debut season, he made history as the youngest bot laner to win an LCK title after they defeated T1 3-1 in LCK Spring. After a fourth-place finish at MSI 2023, they surprised a second time, sweeping T1 3-1 during the LCK Summer 2023 finals.
Gen.G also won LCK Summer 2022 after an astonishing sweep against T1, which makes that three domestic titles in a row.
After two 3rd-4th place finishes at Worlds 2021 and Worlds 2022, they still haven’t translated domestic success to the international stage — yet.
T1
This may be the last time we’re seeing Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok on the same team.
Bot laner Gumayusi hinted an interview with Korean media News Naver that this may be their final rodeo together.

Competing since the start of 2022, they won LCK Spring 2022 before experiencing a string of second-place finishes at MSI 2022, LCK Summer 2022, Worlds 2022, and LCK Spring 2023. They also finished third at MSI 2023, which makes them one of the most consistent high-performing teams in League of Legends esports over the last two years.
Faker could possibly win his fourth championship this tournament — but only if T1 finally manages to break their second-place curse.
