Riot Games has a lot planned for Legends of Runeterra in the next six months, adding new game modes, time-limited events, a new region with new cards, and in-game features.
This month, Riot will introduce Gauntlets – limited-time competitive modes with unique deck building rules that will go live over weekends.
The first Gauntlet will begin on June 26 with standard deck building rules. The second will challenge players to build decks with only one copy of each card.
Light-hearted experimental game modes will start on July 8. Called Labs, they will feature more extreme gameplay changes and involve unusual champion team ups, unpredictable strategies, and an accelerated start.

July will also usher in a month-long special thematic event. Such events will bundle together cosmetic items, quests, and potentially a Gauntlet or Lab. Event Passes that boost player rewards will be available for purchase in the store.
Riot will announce more details about July’s theme on a later date.
As if these weren’t enough, Riot plans to introduce new cards more consistently – every two months – and a new region every six months. Their long-term goal is to release more cards frequently, creating back-to-back waves of new mechanics and champions.
The client itself will also get a few new updates to enhance player experience, many of which were requested by LoR players and are crucial to the competitive scene.
Look forward to deck builder improvements that give players the ability to pick deckbox art, new card styles, leaderboards, spectator mode and player profiles.
