Legends of Runeterra’s open beta Patch 0.9.3 is making huge changes to player progression and in-game economy.
These revisions come after two preview patches, two weeks of LoR mobile game play in Singapore, six weeks of open beta on PC, and data and player feedback.
The Vault will now level up indefinitely without a daily experience cap, and players will receive a guaranteed Champion Wildcard weekly from the Vault.
There are also improved milestone rewards from the Vault:
- Level 2+ includes an Expedition Token (previously awarded at level 10).
- Level 5+ includes a random Champion card
- Level 10+ includes a Champion Wildcard (replaces level 5 random Champion card).
- Beyond Level 13, unlock additional, unlimited capsules, each of which contains at least three Rares and two Commons, with a chance to upgrade to an Epic or Champion Capsule.
The cost of Expeditions will be decreased from 3000 to 2000 Shards, and 300 to 200 Coins. These adjustments make the mode more easily accessible to players, but with reduced rewards to compensate for the guaranteed weekly Champion Wildcard from the Vault.
- Legends of Runeterra mobile is the perfect game for commuting
- Three embarrassing things not to do in Legends of Runeterra
Besides unlimited experience gains, experience earned from winning against AI and PVP has also increased.
PVP wins in normal or ranked mode will give at least 200 XP while Expeditions give 100 base XP. Wins against AI will grant players at least 50 XP points.
These changes reward players who play the game daily, and those who rely on Vaults to receive champion cards that form the backbone of their deck.
For players who rely on the store, the stock and weekly limits on purchasing wildcards will be lifted. Additionally, cards can be bought directly in the Collection tab using Coins.
Riot hopes these changes will create a satisfying progression experience for players who invest time in the game, reduce the randomness of the Vault, give them more access to Champion cards, and the chance to experiment further.
If you want to try a hand at competing in LoR, Singapore’s first official online tournament will be held on March 28 with a total prize pool of SGD$100. Registrations are open on the tournament page.
Patch 0.9.3 will go live on March 31. You can read more here.
