In the midst of Worlds 2020 and K/DA hype, League of Legends welcomes its newest champion and K/DA guest star, Seraphine the the starry-eyed Songstress.
She will be added to both League of Legends and Wild Rift, so be sure to catch her performance on PC and mobile. Here’s a run down of her abilities and gameplay:
Q – High Note
Seraphine projects a musical chord that does magic damage to enemies in a small circular AoE. The damage dealt increases with the target’s missing health.
W – Surround Sound
Surround Sound grants movement speed and a shield to Seraphine and her nearby allies. If Seraphine is already shielded, she’ll give nearby allies — potentially her entire team — a heal too.
E – Beat Drop
Her E, Beat Drop, is a linear soundwave skillshot that damages and slows enemies. If the an enemy is already slowed, they’ll get rooted instead. If they’re already hard crowd-controlled (eg. rooted), they’ll get stunned by Beat Drop.

Passive – Stage Presence
There are two parts to her passive. To understand Stage Presence, it’s important to be aware of her abilities beforehand because it’s essentially a “remix”.
Firstly, every third basic ability Seraphine casts will echo, automatically casting a second time which has its own self-synergy. High Note’s (Q) initial damage will make its subsequent missing health damage deal more. A double Surround Sound (W) will grant move speed, a shield, and a heal all in one go. An echoed Beat Drop (E) will both slow and root your opponents.
The second part of her passive involves musical notes. Inspired by her friends, Seraphine stacks up one note per ally (depicted by the blue glows around them) when she casts an ability nearby, capped at four notes per friend.
These notes give additional range and damage to her next basic attack. This means that it’s beneficial to stack these notes up in a fight, then auto attack at max stacks to deal the most damage.
R – Encore
Encore charms and damages enemies in a line. Your own allies are not immune, and hitting an ally immediately stacks four notes. Additionally, any champion hit resets its ability range, firing out even farther.
Is she not Sona 2.0?
According to Riot’s champion spotlight, they see her as a waveclear midlaner who utilizes High Note (Q) to farm up. After pushing waves, she can invade the enemy jungle with her jungler, or gank side lanes.
Using Encore (R) and Beat Drop (E), she can set up a gank for her jungler with these crowd control abilities.
Ironically, Riot says that even though she’s a solo laner, team fighting is her forte as opposed to split pushing alone, evident from the way her abilities work. How much of a flex will she be as a mid laner and support?
