Schalke 04 have won their first game of the 2020 League of Legends European Championship (LEC) season, and they did it in unpredictable fashion, taking down league-leaders, G2 Esports, and just days after the departure of S04’s former AD carry, Konstantinos-Napoleon “Forg1ven” Tzortziou.

Match of the week: G2 Esports vs Schalke 04

In an intense best of one match, Schalke 04 have beaten top team G2 Esports.

As S04 Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu, S04 Lukas “Lurox” Thoma, and newcomer S04 Nihat “Innaxe” Aliev defended their base from a split push initiated by G2 Luka “Perkz” Perković, S04 Felix “Abbeddage” Braun was already tearing down G2’s own base.

With his champion Cassiopeia, S04 Abbedagge was backed up by S04 Han “Dreams” Min-kook’s Rakan. The two outplayed G2, snagged an Ace, and destroyed their nexus.

After 41 minutes, S04 acquired their first win of the season with a 27-8 kill score.

Player of the week: Odoamne

S04’s Odoamne certainly deserves the player of the week title with his flawless 7-0-9 KDA during their match against G2 Esports. Using Aatrox, he won every single 1v1 fight on his top lane and other lanes. His pick earned the whole Schalke their first victory of the season.

Standings

After a terrible 0-2 week for G2 Esports, with losses to Misfits Gaming and Schalke 04, they now’re tied for first-place with Origen and Misfits Gaming with a 6-2 standing.

Rogue, MAD Lions, and Fnatic are in second with a shared 5-3 standing.
