One of the reasons why Fnatic’s League of Legends roster have been underperforming this Summer season might be because of some serious trust issues.

The team’s star player and bot laner, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, made the shocking reveal in an interview with League of Legends European Championship (LEC) interviewer Laure Valée.

“I don’t think it’s a problem of having too many strong voices. I think it’s more the trust between the players is not there. To me it’s not about the fact that we have a lot of strong opinions, it’s just more of the fact that we don’t trust each other, basically,” said Rekkles.

The lack of trust between Fnatic’s players seems to have stemmed from a greater struggle with their identity for this season, as all its members suddenly wanted to be the one to carry their matches.

“I feel like we’ve always been kind of all trying to carry at the same time which in a way blocks each other from carrying,” said Rekkles.

Rekkles said that the team started losing trust with each other after getting destroyed by G2 Esports 3-0 in their best-of-five series at the Spring Finals last April.

With their grave loss, each member felt like they had to be the one to carry Fnatic for the next season.

But now that Fnatic has qualified for the LEC Summer Playoffs, Rekkles is hopeful that their situation will improve in a best-of-five setting.

Fnatic will be playing an upper bracket BO5 series against first seed team Rogue this August 23 at 11:00 p.m. GMT+8. Will they be able to claim their season championship trophy this time around?
