Invictus Gaming and Royal Never Give Up not only displayed coordinated team fighting, but also individual mechanics prowess in their LPL Week 5 clash.
In a back and forth game one, RNG finally found a winning team fight around Baron in the late game. With only Song “Rookie” Eui-jin and Su “Southwind” Zhi-Lin left standing, RNG wanted to eliminate any chance of recall by the AP mid laner to defend iG’s base.
While Southwind made it out, Rookie got stuck at top lane’s second tier outer turret in a 1v3.
Combining Orianna’s spells and auto attacks, he nuked Li “XLB” Xiao-Long’s Rek’sai. As Guardian Angel revived XLB, Rookie created distance between two chasing members of RNG with Hextech GLP-800’s active.
In a quick turn of events, he finished off XLB before surviving Xie “Langx” Zhen-Ying’s and Shi “Ming” Sen-Ming’s combined damage.
With 645 AP on Orianna, Rookie used the little mana he had left to pick off Ming’s Rakan. Langx landed Ornn’s Volcanic Rupture and Searing Charge, but Protect’s shield kept Rookie alive.
With 9 HP remaining, Rookie kited Langx’s spells once more before falling to minions and a last Bellows Breath.
Even though iG dropped game one, they reversed sweep RNG to win the series 2-1.
