FunPlus Phoenix announced the departure of their World Championship winning head coach Chen “WarHorse” Ju-Chih today. Just an hour later, Top Esports officially announced that he has joined them for the 2021 season.

His move to Top Esports comes after the departure of head coach Luo “Crescent” Sheng, who was with the team for one and a half years. At Worlds 2020, Top Esports failed to make the final after losing to Suning 3-1 in the all-LPL semifinals.

WarHorse is Flash Wolves’ former head coach who departed the LMS region at the end of 2018. In his first year in the LPL, he and the FunPlus Phoenix squad comprising top laner Kim “GimGoon” Han-saem, jungler Gao “Tian” Tian-Liang, famed mid laner Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang, bot laner Lin “Lwx” Wei-Xiang, and support Liu “Crisp” Qing-Song, won the World Championship for the first time in their careers.

So far there have not been any official roster announcements for Top Esports. Their five main starters have contracts that end next year or the year after.
