On day two of the LoL Worlds 2019 quarterfinals, European team, G2 Esports, emerged victorious against Korea’s Damwon Gaming, 3-1.
Game one
G2 got off to a great start in game one. Utilizing their stronger ranged champions in Syndra and Jayce, G2 easily stunned DWG’s Heo “ShowMaker” Su under DWG’s mid-tower.
Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther got off an Unleashed Power and killed ShowMaker, letting G2 speed through two more middle turrets to gain map dominance.
With only one tower left defending the Nexus, G2 rushed DWG’s base to finish the game. Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee and Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon tried to take down Martin “Wunder” Nordahl Hansen with a quick stun, but the rest of G2 came to the rescue with a double kill. With DWG reeling G2 cleaned up the rest of the Korean team, then went for the Nexus to take game one.
Game two
In game two, DWG bounced back, taking an early lead in both kills and gold income.
At the 33-minute mark, a huge fight broke out over the Baron. While Nuguri was the first player to die, DWG regrouped and managed to counterattack, taking down four members of G2.
DWG continued to push their advantage, and at the 43-minute mark, went all-in on G2, picking up the Ace, and sieging the G2 base moments later for the win.

Game three
With the score tied up, G2 started played more aggressively in game three. At the three-minute mark, Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle, and Luka “Perkz” Perković initiated a risky dive into DWG’s bot tower.
Although Perkz and Mikyx fell to ShowMaker’s sudden appearance, Caps and Jankos burned down the rest of DWG, resulting in a 3-2 exchange at bot-lane.
With the Baron buff on their side, G2 sieged DWG’s base, hoping to close out the game.
Nuguri, Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, and BeryL all died quickly trying to defend the DWG base, and Jankos was able to keep Sin “Nuclear” Jeong-hyeon busy in the top jungle, letting the rest of G2 storm the Nexus. With only ShowMaker available to defend, G2 easily broke the Nexus to take a 2-1 lead.
Game four
G2 kept up the pressure in game four, playing aggressively in the early game.
At the 24-minute mark, Wunder managed to chase down and finish off a low-life BeryL, bringing DWG down to four members. Nuguri tried to counter by using his ult on Caps and Perkz, but the skill barely did any damage.
Perkz reacted well to Nuguri’s escape, flashing through a wall and confirming the kill, and then took down a retreating Nuclear with a Last Breath and a few auto-attacks.
In the very next team fight, G2 caught DWG in their top jungle, with Jankos taking out Canyon and leaving Nuguri with a pixel of life left.
The bloodbath continued with Perkz finishing off Nuguri, but then falling to both BeryL and Nuclear, leaving both teams with just two members left.
In the end, it was G2’s Wunder and Jankos left standing after some beautiful skill shots from Wunder. With every member of DWG down, the pair rushed the Nexus and finished off the game, claiming the 3-1 victory and eliminating DWG from the tournament.
With the series win, G2 Esports will move on to the semifinals to face SK Telecom T1 on November 3.
