Pokémon GO developers, Niantic, have plenty to celebrate.
Last week, the hit mobile game reached its third birthday, and it also surpassed US$2.65 billion in total player spending over its first three years, putting it at second over that period, behind only Supercell’s Clash of Clans, according to a report from SensorTower.
That translates to an average US$2.4 million being spent in the game each day since launch.
While Pokémon GO fell behind Clash of Clans, which topped the charts at an astonishing US$3.15 billion, it did make short work of Clash Royale and Candy Crush Saga.
According to the report, the majority of in-game spending for Pokémon GO came from the US with 35%. Following close behind was Japan at 29%.
