Trainers, it’s time to get a catching.
Niantic is adding a new pocket monster to Pokémon Go, but for a limited time only. Players all over the world will be able to add a Shiny Poliwag to their arsenal as part of the game’s final summer fest, which has already started and ends on August 12.
The developer has also brought back the hat-wearing Pikachu to the game. During the event, players will see Pikachu, perhaps the most famous Pokémon, in different hats each day. These include a Santa hat, cowboy hat, baseball cap and more.
Trainers will also be able to hatch a Shiny Bonsly from an egg if they are lucky, Niantic added in its in-game announcement for this event.
Furthermore, similar to other earlier events, Niantic will also be holding a series of global challenges. These will show up in the “field research” section inside the game. Finishing these challenges will give players a chance to catch the legendary Pokémon Suicune, Entei, and Raikou who will show up in special raids.
Lastly, a “gift event” will be taking place in-game as well, with players receiving 2km eggs that will hatch into Pokémon from 7km eggs. Niantic has also increased the number of gifts you can open per day for this period to 30 and players will also be able to carry around 20 gifts instead of the usual 10.
