As powerful as the Great Queen of the North is, playing her requires strategic thinking and precise timing. Mastering her abilities and understanding her role can make you an indispensable asset to your team, freezing your way to victory.
In this ONE Esports guide, we will delve into Aurora’s gameplay, providing you with a good look at her abilities, strategic approaches, and actionable tips to maximize her potential.
Aurora’s skills in Mobile Legends
Passive – Pride of Ice
After taking fatal damage, Aurora freezes herself for a few seconds, becoming invincible and gradually recovering a percent of her Max HP.
This effect has a cooldown. Aurora’s freeze effects can also affect Turrets.
- With the updated Passive, Aurora will now freeze herself when she sustains life-threatening damage. This makes her invulnerable as she regains HP. It addresses the hero’s primary weakness which is her survivability.
- It allows her to position aggressively in team fights to get the best angle to use her skills.
First skill – Hailstone Blast
Aurora summons an icy meteorite to strike at the target location, dealing Magic damage and slowing targets hit by a percentage for a second. Afterward, several hailstones fall, each dealing Magic Damage.
- This is your primary damage ability so max this ability first. Use this to clear waves.
- The ability has a long casting range. Cast it at your enemy’s location to poke them.
- Synchronize this ability with your second skill and ultimate for maximum damage output.
Second skill – Frosty Breeze
Aurora blows Frosty Breeze in a fan-shaped area in the target direction, dealing Magic Damage to enemies hit, freezing them for a second, and creating a frozen area at the far end of the attack that deals Magic Damage to enemies in the area.
- Outside of damage, this is a good crowd-control ability. Manually cast it in the direction where the enemy is.
- Initiate ambushes by activating this skill before unleashing your first skill or ultimate.
- You can also use this to expedite your wave clear.
Ultimate – Frigid Glacier
Aurora creates a frost path in the target direction, dealing Magic Damage to enemies in the path and reducing their Movement Speed for a duration.
The frost path gradually becomes glaciers that spread until reaching their maximum size, shattering and dealing Magic Damage to all enemies in the area and freezing targets for a second.
Every specific point of Magic Power that Aurora has will increase the freeze duration by a fraction of a second.
- What makes Aurora a lethal hero in the game is her burst Magic Damage, mostly from this skill. Manually cast this in the enemy location to unleash insane damage.
- For best results, use Frosty Breeze before activating this skill.
- You can also use Flicker in combination with this skill to help you land it better.
A comprehensive guide on how to play Aurora in Mobile Legends
Recommended battle spell
The best battle spell you can go for on Aurora is Flicker. First, it allows you to be in a better position to activate your damage spells, most especially your ultimate.
Secondly, it gives you an escape mechanic. It comes very handy when you want to reposition after Pride of Ice is activated, when you will be invulnerable but also immobilized.
Speaking of her passive, it has one specific downside — it has a very long cooldown. This is why Purify is also a good consideration.
Whenever the enemy tries to use crowd control spells against you, you can activate the battle spell to debuff the effects when your passive skill is on cooldown. From that point, you can either go for a quick getaway or establish your position in the back line to counter-engage.
Recommended emblem
One weakness of Aurora is her mobility, and taking Agility as your first-tier talent solves that problem. You will benefit tremendously from the bonus Movement Speed to position better in fights, and reposition when caught in the middle of engagements.
For the second talent, take Weapons Master. The bonus Magic Power from equipment and emblems will help you transition better from the early game to the mid-game.
The effect of this talent is noticeable as you move from the mid-game to the late game where your teammates will rely on your burst damage more.
Finally, take Lethal Ignition as the main talent as it synchronizes well with your skill kit. A scorch effect will be inflicted on to the enemy when you deal damage greater than a certain percentage of the max HP of the enemy several times.
Aurora best build
Aurora thrives with a build that maximizes her burst damage and crowd control capabilities.
After boots, build Genius Wand as early as you can. This item boosts your Magic Power and Magic Penetration, allowing you to easily burst enemies down.
Lightning Truncheon is your second core item. This adds a magic damage proc with every third skill cast, which synergizes well with your combo-based playstyle.
As you transition to the mid-game, purchase Blood Wings and Glowing Wand. Blood Wings boosts your survivability while amplifying your magic power.
Glowing Wand allows you to inflict burn damage over time, which complements your skill set. More than that, you also gain anti-heal effects which is crucial for regeneration-based heroes.
Cap off your build with the Wishing Lantern. More than the Magic Power and Cooldown Reduction, it has a unique passive called Butterfly Goddess.
This allows you to deal a percentage of your enemy’s max HP as damage when you deal Magic Damage to the enemy.

Tips and easy combos to learn
At level one, prioritize upgrading Aurora’s first skill as it serves as her primary source of damage. You can rely on this skill to clear minion waves efficiently.
For dealing with enemy heroes, a well-placed combo of her second skill followed by her first skill can be a good way to catch them off-guard and send them back to their base. When the time comes to fully engage, unleash her second skill and Ultimate to freeze as many enemies as possible.
When in team fights, a smart strategy would be to first cast your Ultimate when the enemy is grouped. Immediately follow this up with her second skill to freeze them within the Ultimate’s Area of Effect (AOE). Finally, deliver a finishing blow with her first skill on the crowd-controlled targets for maximum damage.
Aurora’s strength lies in delivering AOE damage and controlling large areas, making her a valuable asset in team fights. Therefore, your primary focus should be on these engagements where her abilities truly shine. Avoid getting into solo fights, as that’s not where Aurora excels.
