Barats, the Dino Rider, is a tank in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang with a passive that lets him change his size. Literally.
Called Big Guy, it stacks each time Barats deals damage to an enemy. Every stack increases his size and increases his physical and magic defense, making him a powerful frontline hero.

Barats’ skills in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
Passive – Big Guy
Detona gains a stack of Big Guy for a couple of seconds each time it or Barats damages an enemy with their skills (up to several stacks).
Each stack of Big Guy increases Detona’s size and grants extra Hybrid Defense (scales with the level of Detona’s Welcome) and extra resilience.
At max stacks, Detona’s Basic Attacks will be replaced with Trample which deals with Physical Damage to enemies in a circular area, slowing them, and refreshing the duration of Big Guy with each hit.
- Each time Barats deals damage to an enemy, his dinosaur, Detona, grows bigger, increasing his physical and magic defense and strengthening his skills.
- Use this passive to your advantage by constantly engaging in fights to maintain your size.
First skill – So-Called Teamwork
Detona spits contaminated oil in the target direction, dealing Physical Damage to enemies in a fan-shaped area. Barats then ignites the oil with a firecracker, dealing Physical to enemies in the area.
- The area of effect of So-Called Teamwork increases with the number of Big Guy stacks so make sure to gain as many stacks as you gain before engaging in fights.
- This is the hero’s primary damage skill so max this skill first.
- Use this skill to poke enemies and clear minion waves. This way, you will not only expedite your camp clear, but you’ll also gain Big Guy stacks.
Second skill – Missile “Expert”
Barats fires two missiles at the target location, dealing Physical Damage and slowing enemies for a duration.
The missiles expel fumes from their exhausts upon landing, dealing Physical Damage to enemies in a rectangular area and pushing them toward Barats.
- This is your secondary crowd-control spell. Make sure to manually cast it in the direction of enemy heroes and aim to bring them back towards you or against a wall.
- Use this in conjunction with So-Called Teamwork for continuous crowd control.
- Outside of the crowd-control, you can also use this to expedite your camp clear as it can deal Physical Damage.
Ultimate – Detona’s Welcome
After a short delay, Detona charges in the target direction, dealing Physical Damage to the first enemy hit, devouring and suppressing them for a few seconds before spitting them out.
If the target hits an enemy hero or a wall after being spat out, the target will cause an explosion, they and nearby enemies will take an additional Physical Damage and will be stunned for a duration.
- For the duration, Barats becomes immune to crowd-control effects. If the channeling is canceled, a percentage of the skill cooldown will be refunded.
- This is a powerful ability that can change the outcome of fights. Make sure to target key heroes such as the enemy midlaner or gold laner to remove their damage source.
A comprehensive guide on how to play Barats in Mobile Legends
Recommended battle spell
Due to his insane durability and sustainable damage output, Barats can be an effective jungle hero. The Retribution battle spell can amplify his camp clear and allow him to compete for objectives.
More than that, the battle spell, specifically the Ice Retribution variant, can improve his kill potential. This allows you to steal movement speed from your target depending on your level for several seconds, making you agile while slowing them down.
This synergizes well with the hero’s skill kit which is focused on soft but continuous crowd-control with damage.
If not played as a jungler, Flicker is the next best battle spell option. This boosts the tank’s mobility and utility and allows you to land the Detona’s Welcome easily.
Recommended emblem
When playing as a jungler, choose the tank emblem as it provides much-needed defensive attributes for Barats’ playstyle.
Take Vitality as the first-tier talent. This gives extra max HP which is significant especially in early-game fights and objective contests.
Seasoned Hunter is a great option for your second-tier talent. The increased damage against the Lord and Turtle gives you an advantage in objective contests.

Tips and Tricks
In the early game, focus on getting your Big Guy stacks at its maximum to expedite your camp clear and increase your damage output for ganks. Do this by continuously using a combination of So-Called Teamwork, Missile “Expert” and Basic Attacks.
Remember that you need to reach maximum Big Guy stacks when you’re engaging the Lord or Turtle to better contest for the objectives.
In team fights, engage using your ultimate, Detona’s Welcome. Target squishy heroes like marksmen and mages, or playmaking heroes to hamper the enemy team’s teamfighting ability.
