His skills allow him to engage and escape from battles quickly, making him hard to catch or kill.
He has an ultimate skill that can isolate and eliminate key enemy heroes, which can turn the tide of a fight.
In this ONE Esports guide, we dive deeper into his abilities, strategies, and the best build to maximize his potential in the game.
Chou’s skills in Mobile Legends
Passive – Only Fast
After traveling a certain number of units, Chou deals more damage on his next Basic Attack (cannot crit), briefly slows the target, and reduces their Physical Defense for a duration which stacks several times.
- After using skills, his passive gives him enhanced Basic Attacks that deal additional damage and slow enemies.
- Make sure to weave in Basic Attacks between skill casts to maximize your damage output, especially during duels.
First skill – Jeet Kune Do
Chou strikes in the target direction, dealing Physical Damage to enemies hit. This skill can be cast multiple times before it goes on cooldown.
On the last cast, Chou also knocks enemies hit airborne. Hitting an enemy hero with the last cast resets the cooldown of Shunpo.
- This is Chou’s primary crowd control tool, capable of knocking up enemies on the third strike.
- To make the most of it, aim to hit multiple targets with each hit, especially in team fights, to disrupt as many enemies as possible.
Second skill – Shunpo
Chou charges in the target direction gaining control immunity and a shield for a couple of seconds.
- Shunpo is a key mobility skill that grants a short dash and immunity to crowd control during the dash.
- Use it to dodge enemy abilities or to quickly reposition in fights. It’s also great for initiating or escaping dangerous situations.
Ultimate – The Way of Dragon
Chou strikes the target enemy hero with a roundhouse kick, dealing Physical Damage and knocking them back.
Cast this skill again to chase up the target, dealing Physical Damage.
- This skill allows him to kick an enemy hero and potentially knock them into your team.
- This skill is best used to isolate and eliminate high-priority targets, such as enemy carries or mages.
- Combining it with Flicker or Shunpo can surprise opponents and make it harder for them to counter.
A comprehensive guide on how to play Chou in Mobile Legends
Recommended battle spell
Flicker is the best battle spell option for Chou because it enhances his already strong mobility and playmaking potential.
As the Kung Fu Boy, your role often involves diving into the enemy backline to pick off key targets. Flicker allows you to close the gap faster or escape dangerous situations after using skills.
It also adds an extra layer of unpredictability, letting you chain his ultimate, The Way of Dragon, with Flicker to reposition and secure crucial kills.
This makes it harder for enemies to counterplay your attacks.
Recommended emblem
When playing the hero as a roamer, opt for the Tank emblem. It gives you a good boost in HP, Hybrid Defense, and HP Regen.
Get Agility for early game Movement Speed boost, and Tenacity for improved survivability at low HP. Alternatively, you can go for Wilderness Blessing for better mobility in the jungle and river areas to respond quickly in other lanes.
For your primary talent, get Concussive Blast. This allows you to deal HP-based Area-of-Effect damage when you close the gap between you and your target.
Alternatively, take the Assassin emblem when playing as an EXP laner.
Get Thrill for additional Adaptive Attack, and Master Assassin for higher kill potential on one versus one scenarios.
Finally, take Lethal Ignition to deal extra damage on multiple hits against your target.
Chou best build
After Boots, acquire Dominance Ice as fast as you can. This item provides early armor and mana while also reducing the Attack Speed of enemies, which is crucial against physical damage dealers.
Moreover, this allows you to deal with regeneration-based heroes like Esmeralda, Uranus, or Yu Zhong who are hard to kill in the early game.
Follow that with Athena’s Shield, which offers strong protection against burst Magic Damage, allowing you to survive longer in fights against mages.
Opt for Radiant Armor if the enemy mage has continuous Magic Damage. You can also purchase both if the enemy team has both kinds of Magic Damage, but reserve Radiant Armor as your final item.
Transitioning to the mid-game, buy Immortality as your third core item. This gives you a second chance in battles by reviving you after death. It also complements your role as an initiator who often dives deep into enemy lines.
Next, get Antique Cuirass or Blade Armor. Antique Cuirass reduces the Physical Attack of enemies who strike you with skills, making you even more resilient in prolonged engagements.
On the other hand, Blade Armor to reflect damage back to attackers. This particularly punishes marksmen and other physical damage heroes who focus on basic attacks.
When playing Chou in the EXP lane, it is recommended to boost his Physical Damage to get easy pick-offs. Do this by prioritizing Sky Piercer and Blade of the Heptases in the early game.
These items are enough to help you take down marksmen and mages when you hit them with a full skill combo.
Improve your kill potential even more by getting Blade of Despair as you transition to the late game.
Round out your build by getting Malefic Roar for Physical Penetration and Endless Battle for True Damage. These items help you in dealing with durable fighters and tanks.

Tips and easy combos to learn
As a roam Chou, your main job is to catch and lock down priority targets. Practice your initiation combo.
To do this, initiate using your first skill twice, then activate your second skill to close the gap between you and the enemy. Follow up with another Jeet Kune Do to knock up the target, then activate Shunpo again to gain position for your ultimate.
For targets that are too far away, use Flicker to close the gap even more.
Activate your Way of Dragon ultimate to kick your target to your desired landing position which can either be to your damage dealers or under your turret.
You also need to keep an eye on the minimap. As a roamer, it’s your responsibility to provide vision and help your team by rotating to different lanes when needed.
Regularly check the map to decide where you’re most needed, whether it’s securing objectives, setting up ambushes, or protecting your damage dealers.
