RRQ Hoshi shocked everybody last night at the MPL Invitational live draft by picking MPL ID rivals, EVOS ID, and MPL ID S6 finalists, Alter Ego with their first two picks.
When asked why they chose EVOS Legends and Alter Ego first, RRQ Hoshi said they want to play the best teams, but their strategy also means that at least one of their toughest competitors will be immediately eliminated from the competition.

With RRQ’s complete bracket, the new and improved EVOS Legends will be meeting MPL ID Season 6 runner-up Alter Ego in the first round. Meanwhile, the MPL PH Season 6 runner-up Omega Esports will face a strong ID team in Genflix Aerowolf.
As RRQ’s rivals, coach James was not going to make it easy for EVOS’ newest line-up to advance. With Alter Ego still carrying their momentum from the MPL playoffs, the RRQ coach knew that EVOS would have a very difficult first-round match.
ONE Esports asked Bjorn “Zeys” Ong immediately after the draft for his response.
“Thank you for the motivation; that’s all,” said Zeys.
With the resulting bracket, the potential for an all Indonesian Finals is fairly slim. In the neighboring bracket, only Aura Fire and Onic Esports come out as representatives in Indonesia.
The two ID teams will have to face each other if they manage to beat their sibling PH teams in the first round. If ever an ID team makes it out of the bracket, they’ll also have to face MPL PH S6 champions Bren Esports.
With RRQ’s bracket of death, will Zeys be able to lead the White Tiger team to a triumphant victory? Let’s wait and see.
The MPL Invitational begins on Friday, November 27, and will span two action-packed weekends culminating with the final on December 6.
