Mathilda has more mobility compared to your traditional mage, and can be played as an enabler or as a damage dealer.

If you’re looking to understand how you can impact the game using this powerful support hero, then this ONE Esports hero guide is made precisely for you.

Mathilda’s skills in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Passive – Ancestral Guidance

Mathilda gains stack stack while moving. When it is fully charged, her next Basic Attack will be enhanced, dealing Magic Damage to the target and granting her Movement Speed that decays over time.

  • Keep moving to build up stacks quickly, especially when rotating or positioning for a team fight. This ensures your enhanced Basic Attack is always ready for an added burst of damage.
  • Use the enhanced Basic Attack to finish off low-HP enemies or to poke at squishy targets during the laning phase.
  • The Movement Speed boost from the enhanced attack is perfect for chasing fleeing enemies or retreating from unfavorable fights. Combine it with Guiding Wind for even more mobility.

First skill – Soul Bloom

Mathilda resonates with the power of her ancestors for a few seconds, attracting wisps that as her movement distance increases (up to a certain number of wisps). At the end of the skill’s duration, or when Mathilda cast this skill again, the wisps will seek the attack nearby enemies, each dealing Magic Damage and revealing the enemies’ positions briefly.

Subsequent damage dealt by wisps to the same target decays to a lower percentage.

  • Cover as much ground as possible before reactivating Soul Bloom to summon the maximum number of wisps. This increases your overall damage potential.
  • Use this skill while moving through enemy formations to ensure wisps target multiple heroes, disrupting their positioning.
  • Soul Bloom briefly reveals enemy positions. Use it strategically to check bushes or track invisible heroes like Natalia.
  • Activate Soul Bloom before using your ultimate. The wisps will prioritize the marked target, enhancing your burst damage output.

Second skill – Guiding Wind

Mathilda leaps in the target direction and creates a field around her, gaining a shield and extra Movement Speed for a few seconds. Allied heroes who come in contact with the field will receive a shield and Guiding Wind.

The first allied hero that triggers Guiding Wind will be guided to Mathilda, and both of them will gain the same Movement Speed boost. When casting this skill during Circling Eagle Circling Eagle, Mathilda will not change her position. Guiding Wind expires a few seconds after the hero leaves Mathilda’s field.

  • Use Guiding Wind when teammates are being targeted to grant them shields and a Movement Speed boost, helping them escape or reposition.
  • Stay close to your team to maximize the value of Guiding Wind. Trigger it when you see an ally in trouble, guiding them safely toward you.
  • This skill works wonders with initiators or divers like Chou or Lancelot. Shield them as they dive in, giving them additional sustain and speed for quick engages.
  • If you’re casting Circling Eagle, use Guiding Wind to shield allies without breaking your ultimate’s positioning, providing dual utility in fights.

Ultimate – Circling Eagle

Mathilda applies a Soul Mark to the target enemy hero and circles around the them for several seconds, during which her wisps will fly toward nearby enemy heroes, each dealing Magic Damage. Soul Bloom will prioritize the target with Soul Mark.

Within the duration, Mathilda can select an area to dash to. At the end of the duration, she’ll dash at the target with Soul Mark, dealing Magic Damage while knocking enemies in her path airborne for a fraction of a second and transferring the Soul Mark to the first enemy hero that she knocks airborne. Mathilda gains control immunity and a shield for the skill duration.

  • Use Circling Eagle on enemy backline heroes like marksmen or mages to disrupt their positioning and burst them down with your wisps.
  • Dash toward an area where you can hit multiple enemies with the knock-up effect for maximum team fight impact. This also helps transfer the Soul Mark for additional disruption.
  • The shield and control immunity make this skill ideal for initiating fights. Lead the charge for your team and create openings for follow-up attacks.
  • Activate Soul Bloom before casting Circling Eagle to amplify the damage on your marked target. This combo can quickly eliminate squishy enemies.
  • Circle around enemies in a way that the wisps hit multiple heroes, adding consistent damage to team fights.

A comprehensive guide on how to play Mathilda in Mobile Legends

Recommended battle spell

Even though she’s already very mobile because she has innately high movement speed and posssess Guiding Wind, Flicker can elevate Mathilda’s initiation and survivability to another level.

You can use this to close the gap faster when chasing and engaging enemy heroes in conjunction with your dash.

When caught in sticky situations, you can also take advantage of the blink spell to reposition or to back away from the fight entirely.

Other than Flicker, Purify is also a good option. This is especially effective if you’re playing as the roamer of the team, and are facing crowd-control heavy lineups such as teams with a Chou or Khufra. The instant debuff will buy you time to reposition and counter-initiate with your teammates.

To maximize Mathida’s skill kit, double down on her most powerful attribute: her mobility. By doing so, you’ll be able to increase your utility and overall effectiveness on the battlefield.

Take Agility as your first-tier talent. The extra percentage Movement Speed lets you roam around the map faster in the early game, which in turn will help you initiate more effectively when helping out lanes, or back away faster when you are outnumbered.

Continue building on your mobility by taking Wilderness Blessing. The bonus Movement Speed when you are in the jungle and river areas ensures that you can position faster than the enemy when it’s time to take down objectives.

This gives the team a significant advantage since you’ll grant them map vision, making it easy to decide the best strategy at Turtle and Lord.

Cap your emblem setup with Quantum Charge as the main talent. You’ll benefit tremendously from the HP regen and Speed up whenever you hit an enemy hero with Basic Attacks.

After stunning enemies with the Circling Eagle ultimate, you’ll be able to reposition faster due to the speed buff and regain a little bit of health.

When playing Mathilda as a support, you need to build around her survivability and mana regeneration in order to continue using her high-impact abilities.

The 4 roaming blessings in Mobile Legends and the best heroes to equip them

Instead of the traditional Demon Shoes, go for Tough Boots as your movement speed item. Get Warrior Boots if the enemy team is composed of more Physical Damage heroes. Make sure to get the Favor blessing since it will restore the health of an ally with the lowest HP when you activate Guiding Wind.

Get Flask of the Oasis as your first primary item to add even more utility to your skills. The effect of this piece of equipment to Mathilda is almost overpowered.

Outside of the percentage boost on your healing effects, the item’s unique passive, Blessing, allows you to cast a shield around an allied hero that can absorb a substantial amount of damage for a few seconds.

Boost your mana regeneration and reduce the cooldown of your abilities by getting Enchanted Talisman.

After getting these two magic items, proceed by reinforcing your survivability. Get Dominance Ice to boost your Physical Defense as well as your mana. It’s also effective when you’re facing high-regen heroes like Uranus, Esmeralda, or Yu Zhong.

Get Oracle next. This item boosts you and your team’s survivability since it improves your Guiding Wind shield and regeneration.

Easy combos to learn

Since there are two parts to her damaging skills — Soul Bloom and her ultimate, Circling Eagle — timing is everything, and this sets apart great Mathilda players from good ones.

Even though she does have a straightforward combo that opens with Soul Bloom, into her second skill or ultimate, due to her flexible abilities, Mathilda performs best when she adapts to the situation on the battlefield.
