Joy’s skills in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
Passive – Humph, Joy’s Angry!
Joy becomes Angry! Each time her skill hits a non-Minion enemy, dealing Magic Damage and increasing her Movement Speed that decays over time (hitting the Leonin Crystal will also grant the Movement Speed effect). This effect has a cooldown for each target. Joy’s Basic Attack deals Magic Damage.
- The passive can only be triggered once for a duration on the same enemy.
- The passive also grants Magic Damage on her basic attacks, so you should also use them instead of solely relying on your skills to deal damage.
- The additional movement speed and damage reduction make her one of the few assassins who can initiate a team fight.
First skill – Look, Leonin Crystal!
Joy summons a Leonin Crystal at the target location, dealing Magic Damage to nearby enemies and slowing them for a duration. The Leonin Crystal lasts for a few seconds and can be used as a springboard for her second skill, Meow, Rhythm of Joy! Meow, Rhythm of Joy!.
- This skill also allows you to dash twice even if you don’t hit a target. Cast Look, Leonin Crystal! and use Meow, Rhythm of Joy! towards the crystal. You have one extra dash which can be used to close the gap or escape lost team fights.
- It’s essential that you cast this first towards a unit before using her second skill. The slow effect will make it easier for you to hit your dashes.
- The skill also reveals enemies inside a bush.
Second skill – Meow, Rhythm of Joy!
Joy dashes in the target direction, dealing Magic Damage to enemies in her path. Hitting an enemy or the Leonin Crystal allows Joy to cast this skill again within a duration and gain Beat Energy. Casting this skill on the beat increases the skill damage by and grants Magic Damage shield that lasts for a duration. This skill can be cast up to a certain number of times in succession.
- This is her main source of damage, so max this whenever possible.
- It’s also important to turn up your volume when playing Joy, as this skill requires players to time their dashes to the beat of the sound.
- You can also refer to the bear that will appear on the lower side of the screen whenever you use this skill. Dash whenever the yellow indicator reaches the last part of the bar.
- A lightning logo will appear below your HP bar every time you hit the beat right. Conversely, a yellow dot will appear if you dash at the wrong beat.
- The more timed dashes you make, the stronger the skill will become.
- She can use this skill to jump over walls.
Ultimate – Ha, Electrifying Beats!
Joy increases her Physical and Magic Defense and gains Movement Speed. Over the next seconds, she pulses several times, dealing Magic Damage each time to nearby enemies. Each Meow, Rhythm of Joy! cast on the beat increases this skill’s damage. If perfect rhythm is achieved by hitting every beat with Meow, Rhythm of Joy!, Joy also gains additional Spell Vamp while this skill is active. This skill unlocks when Joy acquires Beat Energy. Casting this skill with a certain number of Beat Energy will remove all debuffs on Joy and make her immune to slow effects while this skill is active.
- You need to cast Meow, Rhythm of Joy! several times in quick succession to use her ultimate.
- Each well-timed Meow, Rhythm of Joy! dash increases this skill’s damage.
- Hitting the same target multiple times reduces the damage of this skill.
- She will also gain magic lifesteal if Joy successfully hits all Meow, Rhythm of Joy! to the beat.
- If the enemy flickers away during the skill’s duration, you can cast Look, Leonin Crystal! to slow them down.

Recommended battle spells
When playing Joy in the EXP lane or midlane, choosing Vengeance as your battle spell is a smart decision, especially because she is relatively easy to burst down.
Vengeance provides you with the means to stay alive for a longer duration and inflict damage on foes who target you while you build up your rhythm.
When playing her as a jungler, Retribution is the obvious choice for her.
Upgrade it to Ice Retribution to get a movement speed debuff to enemy heroes, which works well with her mobility skills. It can also act as an escape tool whenever you fail to hit your second skill.
Recommended emblem set
Get the Mage Emblem to get a boost in your Magic Power and Magic Penetration. it also provides Cooldown Reduction so you can activate your skills more frequently to build rhythm.
For talents, consider choosing Trhill for the enhanced adaptive attack which can be helpful in early game camp clear and engagements.
In the second-tier talent category, opt for Seasoned Hunter if you’re playing as a jungler. This talent lets her deal good damage to jungle creeps. If you’re playing in the EXP lane or midlane, go for Bargain Hunter, as it enables you to complete your item build more quickly.
For your main talent, select Temporal Reign. With this talent, your next ultimate cast decreases other active skills’ remaining cooldowns by a multiplier within a duration, which allows you to activate Leonin Crystal and Rhythm of Joy multiple times in fights.

She tends to fall off in the late game once everyone has a full item build, and is susceptible to getting one-shotted. Purchase Winter Crown to address this.
The item has a Freeze mechanic that gives you time to survive pick off attempts or buy time for you to make your get away. Since the item does not cancel out ultimates, you can also use this as an offensive tool when you activate Ha! Electrifying Beats in middle of fights.
When playing her as an EXP laner or a midlaner, prioritize Concentrated Energy and Divine Glaive in the early game. Then improve your burst potential even more by purcashing Holy Crystal, Wishing Lantern, and Glowing Wand in the later stages of the game.

Once you reach level four, make sure to hit all your second skills to the beat to deal maximum damage with your ultimate, Ha, Electrifying Beats! You can also surprise your enemies by placing a Leonin Crystal inside a bush and dashing toward that to begin the minigame.
