There many storylines to look forward to in the upcoming Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Singapore Season 4 (MPL SG Season 4), which will begin on September 3.
Defending champion RSG SG will look to defend their throne without one of its longtime members Lim “Ly4ly4ly4” Yang, who moved to Revival in the offseason.
After two-time MPL SG champion EVOS SG pulled out, former members Adam “Adammir” Chong and Basil “Seilah” Ze formed Slate Esports, led by head coach Daryl “Youngin” Ng.
New team Stellark will be making its debut this season. Its roster however, includes veterans Robert Boon Wei “OhDeerBambi” Xing and Jassa Ham Kao “Fossa” Yee.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming season, including results, format, and where to watch the matches live.
What is MPL SG Season 4?
MPL SG Season 4 is the second and last MPL Singapore tournament of the year. It is played in three phases — the open qualifier, the regular season, and the playoffs.
Out of 67 teams who joined the open qualifier, SMG SG and Stellark came out on top, and will join six of the strongest teams in Singapore.
These teams are competing for a chance to win the lion’s share of the S$100,000 prize pool and a slot in the upcoming M4 World Championship in January.
MPL SG Season 4 format
Similar to last season’s format, the regular season will run for four weeks. All games will be played in a best-of-three, single round-robin format.
Sweeping a series grants three points. A 2-1 match score will earn the wining team two points while losing teams gain one point. The top four teams will advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs, while the bottom four will be seeded into the lower bracket.
The playoffs will feature a double-elimination format. All matches leading up to the final will be played in best-of-threes, after which the upper and lower bracket final will be best-of-fives. The grand final will be a best-of-seven.
