With the right understanding and mastery of her gameplay, you can channel Ruby’s resilience and transform her into an unstoppable force on the battlefield.
In this ONE Esports guide, we will dive deeper into her abilities, strategies, and the best build to maximize her potential.
Ruby’s skills in Mobile Legends
Passive – Let’s Dance
Ruby starts with a boost in Spell Vamp and inherits a certain Spell Vamp Ratio (Basic Attacks cannot trigger Lifesteal). After each skill cast, Ruby can dash to another location, gaining Physical and Magical Defense (scales with level) for a duration that stacks several times.
- Her leap can be used both offensively and defensively as it allows you to be in a position to engage or disengage.
- More than positioning, this ability also makes her durable, allowing her to be an effective frontline hero and initiator for the team.
First skill – Be Good!
Ruby swings her scythe, dealing Physical Damage to enemies. She then unleashes a shockwave In the same direction, dealing Physical Damage to enemies hit and slowing them for a duration.
- This ability is perfect for poking enemy heroes as it inflicts both damage and slow effects.
- It’s also a valuable farming tool, allowing you to clear minion waves efficiently especially when playing as an EXP laner.
Second skill – Don’t Run, Wolf King!
Ruby swings her scythe herself twice, each swing dealing Physical Damage to nearby enemies, stunning them for a quick duration, and slowly pulling them toward her.
- This skill is your primary crowd-control tool. Use it to disrupt enemy formations, isolate key targets, or initiate team fights.
- To maximize this skill, aim for multiple enemies to get the most out of each swing.
Ultimate – I’m Offended!
Ruby sweeps her scythe in the target direction, dealing Physical Damage to enemies hit, pulling them toward her, and stunning them for 0.5 seconds.
- This ability is best used in the heat of team fights, where it can hit multiple enemies, and disrupt enemy formation.
- Always be on the lookout for opportunities to hook enemies into unfavorable positions or towards your teammates for a coordinated strike.

Recommended battle spell
Flicker offers Ruby enhanced mobility and an escape tool, supplementing her inherent skill set. It allows her to dash through thicker walls if she needs to evade opponents or position herself to land her crowd control abilities.

Furthermore, this can also be used to perform her Flicker-ultimate combo, where she uses Flicker to quickly close the gap on enemies before using her ‘Don’t Run, Wolf King!’ ability to pull them in.
Beyond Flicker, Ruby can benefit from the Vengeance battle spell. As a frontline fighter, Ruby is often the first target for enemy attacks and a sandbag for damage.
Vengeance can significantly bolster her survivability under such circumstances, allowing her to endure more damage and stay in the fight longer. More than that, the damage reflection effects of the spell can add up quickly in fights, effectively turning Ruby’s defensive stance into an offensive advantage.
Recommended emblem
Customize your fighter emblem by taking Firmness, Festival of Blood and Brave Smite.
For your first talent, Firmess is a good choice to boost your survivability. As one of the primary initiators in the team, this will allow you to sustain in team fights especially in the early game.
Festival of Blood synchronizes well with the hero’s passive. Each time you participate in securing a kill, you get extra Spell Vamp on top of the Spell Vamp from Let’s Dance.
Finally, take Brave Smite as your main talent. Each time you deal damage using a skill, you restore a certain percentage of your Max HP.
Since most of the hero’s damage comes from skills, you will have tremendous uptime when you land her skills.
Ruby best build
The type of boots to get is dependent on your playstyle. If you want to be more durable in the early game, take Tough Boots. To help you play more aggressively, take Magic Shoes.
Follow it up by taking War Axe, and Endless Battle to amp up your damage. Since you have innately good durability due to the hero’s passive, you can opt to purchase Physical Attack equipment up to the mid-game.
Transitioning to the late game, opt to build defensively. You can take Dominance Ice to counter regeneration-based heroes like Esmeralda or Uranus, and take Queen’s Wings and Bruteforce Breastplate in the late-game.
You can also build up Magical Defense by getting Athena’s Shield or Oracle, depending on the type of damage-dealers present in the enemy team.
The best build for Ruby in Mobile Legends
- Magic Shoes
- War Axe
- Endless Battle
- Dominance Ice
- Queen’s Wings
- Bruteforce Breastplate
Tips and easy combos to learn
As a fighter, Ruby is most effective in the side lanes, where she can farm gold and experience efficiently. In team fights, you should position yourself at the frontline, initiating fights with her hook and controlling enemies with her stuns.
A common combo with Ruby is to use Be Good! to slow enemies, follow up with Don’t Run, Wolf King! to pull them in, and then finish with I’m Offended for massive crowd-control.
Moreover, always communicate when you’re about to initiate a fight. A well-placed and well-timed hook can pull an enemy into your team’s clutches, turning the tide of battle.
