Following a victorious first-round series against Kazakhstan, Mongolia, which has no MPL in their region, came close to causing a major upset in the upper bracket final against the well-established SIBOL, winning one game in the best-of-three series.

Despite the resistance, the Filipinos showcased their resilience and won the hotly-contested decider, securing a grand final spot.

In the lower bracket final, Mongolia defeated Cambodia, 2-1, earning themselves a rematch against the Filipino squad in the grand final.

In the first game, Mongolia opted for a two-support lineup featuring Faramis and Diggie, effectively countering SIBOL’s high burst damage lineup consisting of Joy, Claude, and Lapu-Lapu.

Despite a low-scoring game, SIBOL gained the upper hand through objective control.

At the 15-minute mark, they eliminated two opponents and secured Lord. With no towers left for Mongolia, SIBOL went straight to the enemy’s base to win the first game.

In the second game, Mongolia maintained its two-support strategy, replacing Faramis with another support hero, Franco.

SIBOL, on the other hand, went for a wombo-combo lineup featuring Terizla, Minotaur, Ling, and Beatrix.

Marco “PHI.REQUITANO” Requitano’s performance on Beatrix was exceptional, ending the game with an impressive 8/1/1 KDA. He effectively shut down Mongolia’s gold laner, BEBEX, who failed to get a single kill in the game.

In the third game, Mongolia held a slight lead in the early game. However, PHI.REQUITANO stole the spotlight again, this time on Brody.

He racked up seven kills in the first 10 minutes, which stopped the Mongolian squad from snowballing in the game.

The Filipino eventually ended the game at the 13-minute mark. PHI.REQUITANO stood out as the star player, finishing with an 11/1/4 KDA.

The Philippines and fifteen other countries will be competing at the 15th IESF World Esports Championship for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang from August 25 to September 3 in Iași, Romania.
