You may often hear the term “split push” in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and other multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games.
It has become pretty popular in the professional Mobile Legends competitive scene. Some of the pro players have pulled it off so much that they’re practically synonymous with it. A good example would be ECHO’s star gold laner Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales.
Split pushing is a strategy in MOBA games where a player separates from his team and pushes an opposite lane on the map.
The goal is to apply pressure to multiple points on the map simultaneously, causing confusion among enemies and making it easier for your team to take objectives or win team fights. This tactic can also lead to exhilarating victories.

It is risky yet rewarding for players looking to gain advantage. However, it’s not easy to do. Here’s a guide for you to execute it effectively.
A comprehensive guide on how to split push in Mobile Legends
Pick the right hero
Not all heroes are good at executing this strategy. You need a hero who can clear minion waves quickly and safely, and has a mobility spell to escape when enemies respond.
Typically, marksmen like Karrie, Beatrix, and Bruno, as well as highly mobile assassins and fighters like Fanny, Ling, Lancelot, Zilong, and Sun, are great choices for split pushing.
These heroes can quickly take down turrets and apply pressure to lanes while still being able to escape danger if needed.
Timing is everything
This tactic requires careful timing and decision-making. Simply attempting to execute it at any given moment can be risky and ineffective.
Wait until the enemy team is busy dealing with your team or downing an objective, such as a turret or Lord. This gives you the window to push a lane without being interrupted.
Observe movements on the map
Always keep an eye on the mini-map to see where the enemy team is. This allows you to determine if it is safe to split push. The mini-map is located on the top-left corner of your screen, showing icons of heroes and objectives.
If you see all of them engaging with your allies on the other side of the map, you can proceed to push the lane. If some of them are missing, consider first if you can take them on in a fight. Otherwise, be patient and wait for another chance.
Communication is key
Before attempting to split push, make sure your team is aware of your plans, so that they can create pressure in other areas of the map and keep the enemies distracted.
If you’re playing with a five-man squad, it’s easier to coordinate with your allies. If you’re playing solo, you can still communicate with your team by using the in-game mic and speaker functions.
Open your mic and speaker, and ask your teammates to do the same, so you can tell them your plans and ensure that everyone is on the same page.
