Mobile Legends: Bang Bang patch 1.6.66 was just released this week, featuring a ton of hero, equipment, and battlefield changes.
One of the newest items that was introduced this patch is the Steel Legplates, a tier two defensive item. Though the item is not considered a gamechanger in the late game, it provides good stats for tanks and EXP laners in the early to mid game.

Before assessing whether this item is worth it, let’s look at its base stats.
Steel Legplates
- Craft Cost: 530 gold
- Attribute: 45 Physical Defense
- Component: Leather Jerkin
- Craftable: Blade Armor, Dominance Ice
In the current patch, the tier two item is the new component of Dominance Ice and Blade Armor, both crucial late game defensive items.

Is the new item worth buying?
The new armor item is a good alternative to Dreadnaught Armor, another level two physical defense item. What makes the item worth the buy is that it’s 200 gold cheaper, and gives only five less physical defense.
Steel Legplates also doesn’t have a unique passive, compared to Dreadnaught Armor, which has a passive called Deter that decreases the physical attack of enemies who attack you.
However, despite not having a passive, the item is worth it if you need a quick physical defense boost in the early parts of the game. It’s especially useful if you’re going to build Dominance Ice or Blade Armor later on.
