Team SMG and Team Lilgun are headed to the Philippines after a dominant M5 Wild Card performance
In the group stage, both teams dominated their respective groups, finishing with a flawless 3-0 record.
Group A’s top seed, Team SMG, faced Group B’s second seed, Imperio E-Sport, in the first crossover match.
Team SMG seized control of the first two games, thanks to Aeliff “Smooth” Ariff’s impressive 5/0/5 KDA on X.Borg in the first game and Kenneth “Saxa” Fedelin’s lethal Heavy Spin plays on Akai in the second game.
Imperio refused to surrender easily, forcing the series to a fourth game after Marco “Markinho” Colque secured a Maniac using Dyrroth to win the third game.
However, Team SMG asserted their dominance in the fourth game, culminating in a flawless Lord dance at the 13-minute mark.
Securing the Lord buff and eliminating three of Imperio’s members, Team SMG marched down the middle lane to seal their victory.
The second crossover match between Group B’s top seed Team Lilgun and Group A’s second seed Niightmare Esports proved to be more one-sided.
Team Lilgun effortlessly claimed the first two games, but Niightmare Esports showed some resilience in the third game, extending it past the 25-minute mark.
However, Team Lilgun was victorious in the Lord dance at the 27-minute mark, leaving Niightmare Esports scrambling to defend their base.
Team Lilgun capitalized on their opponents’ disarray, picking off Niightmare’s members one by one until everyone was eliminated.
With five members down, the Mongolian squad marched towards the base to secure the decisive 3-0 victory.
They will join 14 other qualified teams at the M5 World Championship group stage starting December 2.
