The latest update to Overwatch— officially known as patch 1.33.0.1— has now gone live. Aside from introducing a new map, Paris, into the game, the update also fixed the priority for damage taken by players as well as a slew of bugs and other issues.

With the fix to the priority for damage taken, non-recoverable health, shields, and armor are now consumed before recoverable health, shields, and armor whenever damage is dealt to a player.

Previously, the priority order was like this: non-recoverable shields, recoverable shields, non-recoverable armor, recoverable armor, non-recoverable health, and recoverable health.

It didn’t quite make sense that recoverable shields would be consumed before non-recoverable armor, as that could seemingly small difference could determine whether a player survives another attack following a major engagement, for example.

The fixed priority order now looks like this: non-recoverable shields, non-recoverable armor, non-recoverable health, recoverable shields, recoverable armor, and recoverable health.

Aside from a neat reordering, the fix now means that recoverable shields and armor won’t be wasted because they were consumed before their non-recoverable counterparts.

The update also included a fix for a significant bug that caused heroes to use the “Behind You” voice line when they are affected by a damage over time ability. Bugs for the following heroes: Ashe, D.Va, Hanzo, Junkrat, Mei, Reaper, Reinhardt, Soldier: 76, and Symmetra; and maps: Blizzard World, Château Guillard, Numbani, and Petra; were also fixed.
